Well, I finally put things together and flipped the switch..... full speed and backwards!
Does this mean the new controller in this BD36 kit is toast? Any other reason like the funky throttle; I have a C-lyte thumb throttle to the WE controller connection. It only snaps together one way with the double female conversion wire. I did splice in the CA-SA too...
I won't be testing it even if I figured this out because when it rotated full speed, I saw the wheel bounce like a bunny. I just took it to the bike shop to have it trued. He laughed! It is not only a loose mess but he said these wheels are mostly laced by a machine :jawdrop:
If this new controller is bad, should I just get the same thing or try a shenzhen (sp) or what?
I'll flip the wheel to the other side and stop following pasted-on instructions too.
All-in-all, a bad start with a bad kit from batteryspace.com Good thing it's a hobby.

No problemo! Just take the wheel off and flip it 180 degrees and it will run forwards. When the power is off, it should spin relatively easy by hand forwards, and be harder to spin by hand backwards. If it spins easy backwards now, the wheel is on backwards and the fix is easy as pie. I have one lefty and one righty, Now when I get one, I check the spin to see which side the wire should be on, and never look at the instructions. Have Fun! Nothing like the first ride. Just get the washers and nuts nice and tight and flat so you don't get suprised by the axle moving on you. If they don't fit nice, file off whatever you have to to make it so. Both my wheels could use some balancing too, as well as the usual truing, but I find for me, I don't feel it while riding. But they do pogo when doing a no load test.

Oh yeah. I just got a bl36. Less than a week old but is my new toy. Before I could ride I had to do some spoke work. Had to use vicegrips on the large nipples. Just got the worst out of it. Later I got the right size tool and went to work. It was way out of round -- I loosened them all up and basically started from scratch. It was a pain but got it trued up nicely now. Spinning free it purrs like a kitten.
A touch of oil helps -- one of the nipples was really hard to turn (squeak!) and it was all chewed up from the tool slipping. Mind you it came that way.
WE sould either lace them up properly before shipping *or* at least give fair warning that trueing will be necessary.

She got wheels in her smiles, she can coast along for miles...
Well, many others are about the same, except for the pricy ones that get laced in the us. Same thing for any bike built in china and not serviced by a high priced shop before sale. For me, its ten bucks at a local bikeshop well spent.

Try exchanging positions between any two of the three power wires that feed the motor that is how we change direction on any 3phase motor Later
thank GOD I wake up above ground !!!!
The BD-36 only has two wires (brushed motor) and they come out the right side of the bike, as viewed from the riders position.
I've had two of the WE kits and both of the wheels looked like they had been assembled by blind monkeys. One was so far out of round the front of the bike would almost leap off the ground at speed with a fully inflated tire. Get the right size spoke wrench (I had to file one to make it fit, no standard one from the local bike shop was even close), put a movie on the telly or a good album on the stereo, and spend a peaceful couple of hours truing up your wheel. You'll be glad you did.
I had the same problem with my BD36. I think its due to an error in the instructions that are provided. I just flipped the tire 180 degrees like the previous poster suggested.
Or the seat, of course. ;)
Why didn't I think of that?

Well,
I hooked up a new brushed controller and...wait for it...........NOTHING!
THis BD36 box from Berson is much smaller, plastic, with a tiny key and cooling sink on the bottom. Inside it has the same 63v caps. Problem is, nothing happens at all. No response and no throttle. My C turns on and thats it. I put my old controller on there and compared the wires/colors and all is the same only that one still runs full speed w/o the switch or anything.
Two bad controllers in a row??
Here is the fun part: I also received my ecrazyman controller; 36V-800W-40Amp and now I'm afraid to change out my connections only to see failure a third time! I am gun shy and almost ready to start over with a brushless kit...
Anybody had thiese kinds of issues?
