Re: First deep(ish) discharge done

This is logical - I agree. I can live with it. But, the question is - is this "normal"? Someone commented earlier that this does not happen to all Vectrix owners - maybe I have a defective bike?
In any case it will be much less of a problem when I finish these first 5 deep cycle charge/discharges. (Just finished #4!) Soon I will keep the battery topped-off and avoid using those last few bars...
Meanwhile - I'm enjoying it immensely. I particularly like it when people notice and ask questions. They are always shocked and surprised that it is free-way capable and oil-free. I live in a town that is not very "progressive". I'm sure I have the only Vectrix around. I was surprised to see, however, a Zap car on the road the other day - I tried to follow it on my Vectrix, but it was going a different direction.
Happy Electron Riding!

It hinges on the this question:

Do the Vectrixes with the "disappearing bars syndrome" also have lower range than others?

Mr. Mik

This information may be used entirely at your own risk.

There is always a way if there is no other way!

Re: First deep(ish) discharge done

In my case, no - quite the opposite, it seems. However, I was always told never to sequentially deep discharge batteries, as juch strains early on in the battery life can do irreperal damage to cells. It is far better to commence with a DD, then use it normally for a few weeks, then repeat - effectively spacing out the DDs.

Looking at my (manual) charging log, I am spacing them out at 4 week intervals 0 the first 2 weren't planned that way, but that's the way it is working out! So I see no reason not to follow the process through for the remainder.

That would be an impossible question to answer outside of a controlled enviroment, since range will vary greatly between different riders and different terrains.

I also have the disappearing bar issue at the moment, and whether or not it gets better after the fifth DD remains to be seen, and really won't bother me much either way, as I currently rely solely on my odometer for range guestimates. It would be nice if the odometer automatically reset after "end charge" session, but it's not difficult to remember to reset it each time I unplug after topping off.

Re: First deep(ish) discharge done

I am getting around 32 miles riding hard out of a full charge after my 3rd DD - would probably get around 40 if i was riding at local speeds and riding carefully.

And my 32 miles was gained after having to ride hard overtaking vehicles when a nutter, who pulled out in front of me decided to then turn round and chase me for the audacity of managing to avoid him - the Vectrix really did hold its own and manage to pull away fast! Most impressed still.

Maybe he just wanted to know more about your bike! :-)
