Who knows what an E-900 is?

I was told that Sam's club no longer carries the Stealth 1000 and now offers something called an E-900. I looked it up on their website and found this:

The information on the page above is not very informative. Does not tell you if it is 24V or 36V or (please God) 48V.

I Googled E-900 and pretty much came up dry. I didn't see anything on Currie's site referring to an E-900 either.

I searched V is for Voltage as well.

So now I am asking for your help. Anyone know anything about the mysterious E-900?

It also begs the question; why did Sam's give up on the Stealth? Direct drive sucks perhaps?

Never heard of it. I have been seeing some Currie scooters online marketed as e-Zip. Never a 900 though. Frame is lighter than the Stealth which uses oval tubing. Obviously a chain drive if the pic is accurate and a deeper battery pan than the Stealth to apparently accomodate 12Ah batts. I'm guessing 36V. I don't think I'd want to give up rear suspension though.

This has been driving me bananas wondering what this thing is.

At this point I'm thinking it's the scooter at the link below being run at 36V.

IMO there is no figuring Currie's marketing. I think they just assemble some scooters out of parts-on-hand, and then name it something, sell them till they're gone, then make "whatever" with whatever parts are left on the assembly line. Just a theory based on what I see hitting the market place the last couple years. I'm sure I'm wrong.

I bought a brand new Schwinn (looked just like a Stealth) and it has "Fusion" decals on it. I'd never heard of a Schwinn Fusion. I-Zip Fusion has been the equivalent of a Stealth. Now I see them using the word "Fusion" with an e-Zip 1000. I got this one from Craigslist. It had been won in a contest by a woman who had no use for it. Apparently sold it for $300 to a guy that removed the batteries, throttle, controller, wiring harness, and charger to convert his mountain bike to electric. I bought the entire rest of the scooter for $80, including the brand-new complete drive system (gearbox, of course).

My point is, current model numbers have nothing to do with the size of the motor or anything else. They can call it an e-900 and it may have a 750W motor. The older S750's had full suspension and chain drive. The newer S750's have no suspension and smaller motors. It's very confusing.

The Ezip E1000 is Currie Tech's BRAND NEW 2008 1000w Full Suspension Scooter. Its features are IDENTICAL to the Schwinn S1000. The only difference is the NAME, and COLOR of the scooter."

BTW, their website says the E1000 is backordered until October 1st.

I think I remember that the box at Sam's said that this model was 24 volts, but I haven't been there in two months.

Currie also has the Izip i1000, which looks like it is a little better than the Ezip.
For one thing,the 36 volt batteries are 12amps, rather than 10amps in the Stealth 1000 and the Ezip. So it should run longer without needing a charge. About the other specs, I am a pretty pure mechanic and don't understand a lot. It would be great if someone would comment. I first have posted the Izip specs, below that are the Ezip specs. Besides the 10amp and 12amp battery difference, it is hard to tell if the Ezip 1000 and the Izip 1000 have any other differences. I have always found the Currie 90 waranty on these scooters rather pathetic. A year would be nice.

The specs below were copied from Superkids. I have purchased replacement batteries for my Stealth 1000 from them (not the OEM batteries), that work well, but it seems that their prices for the scooters are about the highest that one can find anywhere.

Aside from the stated battery Ah's, and "predicted" range, I am not aware of any other functional differences between an I-Zip 1000 and what they are now calling an e-Zip 1000 (which is essentially a Scwinn Stealth with different paint and decals). Currie loves stickers! Once you get them all peeled-off, you can actually enjoy the paint job! Nice to see they're now using something other than black! But that's not my favorite shade of blue.

You did not mention your intended use for your soooter. IMO none of the Currie scooters make serious commuters. They're perfect for me since I stay within a 5 mile radius of home-base, and ride and charge daily.

If you have ever considered changing your batteries to something like LiFePo4 in the future, you may want to investigate the actual inside dimensions of the stock battery trays. I would expect the I-Zip (12Ah) to be larger (deeper), but don't know if it could accomodate enough non-SLA batteries without modification (assuming you would upgrade to 48V).

Either scooter is going to have the direct gear drive (which does not have good long-term history), and a fairly lackluster 36V controller that will cut-out if you coast too fast. You will need to reset the controller before you can accelerate again.

If the extra 2Ah (2 miles?) are important, it's an easy choice. If that doesn't matter much, go for the least espensive or best availability.

Superkids has always done right with me. But they are likely not going to be the low-cost alternative. To get the brand and model you want, there may be few other sources.

An Ezip 900 is a black scooter with only a front disc brake.
It probably uses a 500watt brushed motor, has front suspension with a fixed seat post.
For the motor is a 24 volt system with 12V 15AH batteries.

I actually own this scooter and it's a pretty nice one. Get's good speed and has a pretty nice range. I live in a somewhat hilly area and can usually get a good 6 miles or so on the scooter before the battery really is good and dead. Granted, I weigh over 200 pounds as well so that puts a lot of stress on the scooter.
It's a pretty good deal if you need something to zip around town in and don't want to shell out a ton of money.
It's kinda weighty due to the battery but that's alright. The break works really well and putting it together is a snap since there is only three things you have to do.
The charger says that the battery needs to charge for 8-10 hours, but I"ve gotten it to charge fully in about 4-6.
Overall it's worth the price. There are a few small issues I have with the scooter, such as the seat doesn't lock into place so grabbing it to lift the scooter up isn't recommended, and the weight can be a bit trying at first, but if you're looking for something inexpensive that can get you some distance, speed, and climbing power, it's definitely something to look into.
