60 v battery charger

Hi everyone,

I've done some searching and trying to find a 60v SLA charger is a bit of a bear.
I'm just curious, with all the knowledgeable people here, why no DIY charger
designs? Now I am not one of these smart people so I am not capable of this.
Is it a cost issue?

Thanks

eRick

Re: 60 v battery charger

Thanks Craftkiller,

I had seen that one but I thought $99 seemed a little Xtreme :)
I was hoping to find a cheaper solution but it looks like I won't.

This may be too late, but here is a link to a 1.8 Amp 60 volt charger;

Re: 60 v battery charger

I'm currently using the 48v~2.6Amp charger with my XB-600 right now. It takes about 5 hours to completely charge my batteries.

I wanna buy this 60v~1.8Amp charger but my question is, how long will it take to charge a 60v Xtreme XB-600 (using a 5th battery rated at 12V~20amps)?

Actually, good-quality 48 volt chargers - the standard voltage for golf carts and other utility EV's usually run $150 to $350.

But unfortunately, 60 volts is quickly falling out as a "standard" voltage - 72 volts is generally the next step up for higher powered applications. So, 60 volt battery chargers are going to be even more hard to find.

Also, I would find 3 or 4 amps aggravatingly slow for charging a 40 AH pack. You really need at least 8-10 amps.

Re: 60 v battery charger

So I added a 5th battery and ordered the $55 60v 3amp charger, but after 5 hours, the batteries are stil dead. Has anybody else tried using this charger from TNTScooters?
