Just so everyone is clear, I had a good experience with ArticFox at BaseStationZero.

My "difficulties" were purely with X-treme.

Re: My X-treme X-600 Review (YouTube)(Finally!)

Thanks for the great video review. I have an X-500 and your story is very, very similar to mine. The basic design is sound, but like you said, the execution is flawed. Sadly, it wouldn't take much to makes these machines top of their class and competitive with something like the Go-Ped Hoverboard.

I had a better experience than you with their tech support. I guess I don't mind the ticket system. They responded within 24 hours and called me within the same time frame. Mine had some minor damage in shipment and they were fairly prompt in getting me the replacement parts.

I was surprised to learn that the X-600 doesn't have a free-wheel stock. The X-500 does. I probably have almost 300 miles on mine now and I can definitely confirm that the stock tires suck. They lasted maybe 50 miles. I replaced them with Kenda 471s and they still look like new after 250 miles. I will keep riding mine because it is just too stinking much fun not too.

The other good thing about these scooters is that parts are readily available and cheap from TNCscooters.com. So if you are a tinkerer you can have a lot of fun for cheap. I am in process of installing a 36v 1000 motor in mine. The 36v motor at 48v should give me a nice speed increase. I will let you know.

Bottom line. Reliable, cheap transportation? Nope. Not even close. Fun hobby, you bet.

btw, I don't see how installation of a free-wheel could cost you top-speed or torque. Sure it isn't an issue of an over-tight chain or a dragging brake?

I agree, I think maybe the rear sprocket changed a few teeth which would change the gear ratio.

Yeah, I didn't get time to talk about all the upgrades in detail, included going from a 71 tooth sprocket to a 65 tooth (It was closest TNC had to my configuration). It's on the table next to all the upgrade parts in the video.
