Noob charging question....

Hello I just bought a Razor E300S as a gift for my daughter for christmas. I also bought an extreme X-560 for myself so I could ride with her.

OK my question: Both chargers have the red light that turns green indicating charged, and both manuals for both bikes say do NOT charge more than 24 hours. I am just wondering if anyone can tell me why. It seems logical to me to just leave them plugged in till you use them, since the light turns green I think this means it switches to float mode? I'm new to this. Is it bad to leave them plugged in?

Re: Noob charging question....

leaving sla batteries in float mode indefinitely can be bad, since it slowly cooks them. The charger will still be charging at a very slow trickle. This is beneficial for a few hours, or even days, but can be harmfull to them if left plugged in indefinitely. Ride em, put em on charge, and unplug the next morning if it is not convenient to do so as soon as the charger light turns green. Or you could put a timer on the chargers to shut them off a few hours after they finish. Just don't put em on charge and leave em charging for weeks.

The WORST thing you can do is leave them uncharged after riding, or run them till they stop.
