Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

Well finally after 5 months of first trying it out , i finally bought it. I also want to thank all of you for your great help.
Its funny but when i ordered my Vectrix they told me that 2008 and 2009 were exactly the same, only the grafics were the difference. So i told them i wanted a 2008 december silver Vectrix with 4 years warranty, but the answer was NO, i had to buy a 2009 with ugly 2 colour and grphics and plus the 2009 model comes with only 2 years of warranty!!
Do all of you have 4 year warranty?
Thanks again
By the way there are very few Vectrix around here in Barcelona, Spain

Normal warranty is two years. There were some extended (two more years) warranties available at some point in time because they are mentioned in the warranty book, but those did not automatically come with the bike.

Did you pay more for the 2009 model? Does it come with any acessories option or do you have to pay more for them?

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

No, i didnt pay more for it, in fact it was slightly cheaper because of the 2 year Warranty. It doesnt come with any extras they are all separate. Although i have been researching about the 2009 model and found out that in some images and videos(youtube)of the bike, i noticed that the seat seems to be the new lower one.
I also asked the dealer for the extra central stand , and they told me its not available yet.Its curious because i have read here in V that some of you already have it.

I am a proud owner of a Vectrix with center stand. Must have been lucky. Actuallly I see it more as a nice to have and personally I am not using it that often then I would have tought. Still, it is a very stable piece of metal and sometimes you just feel safer using it.

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

In Spain it costs 8990€ with the centre stand, and by the way looking at the 2009 accesories catalog in the oficial Vectrix web page, it clearly says that it will be available in febuary 2009.

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

It may have been worth getting one from the UK, I never thought I'd ever say that about our rip-off country, but they are at 6,200 GBP here, which is at today's rate, 6,645.56 Euros.

Obviously it would have had to have been picked up with a trailer or in a van, but what a saving. A downside could be if there wasn't an international guarantee of course.

Wow, did I snap up a bargain with mine at 5,600 GBP 4 months ago!

How come they've suddenly jumped in price?

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

In June when i first had a look at the Vectrix and asked about prices, they were asking for around 7.500€ and that with 4 years warranty. Now its for 8.800€ and 2 years warranty (2009), i have checked on the VIN and it is made in 2009. I had been advised in June 2008 that prices would go up, they said that 2007 models had a discount but any 2008 or 2009 models would be more expensive.(Could that be because of some defects adressed?)
Its quite expensive, but i suppose its the price the company needs to make money andhave a future,so i think its fair for such a new product (although i have high expectations that it wont fail, seeing what it costs) anyway i cant wait to have it!!!

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

By the way i forgot to mention that here we have a 900€ rebate from the goverment of Cataluña. But we have to apply now to get the refund in October. Late but at least it helps to bring down the price.

They were selling them for a discount price until the end of July 2008. The price without VAT was 6.400 EUR and I imported the bike from Italy.
Because I imported it to Slovenia (my country), I didn't have to pay Italian VAT, but I had to submit VAT papers in my own country to pay Slovenian VAT (20%). But it seems my country is VERY ECO FRIENDLY and I was excused to pay VAT (cca. 1300 EUR), so the final price for me was 6.400 EUR and I also didn't have to pay road tax.

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

I've had my Vectrix since last June - I required a centre stand and one wasn't ptovided. It was promised in July, October, December and I gather it is STILL not available. I'm told the reason is it has to comply with relevant standards approval, but I still want the security of having one!

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

Finally it aarived, at last i have seen it, but i still dont have it cause i have to finish paperwork ,get the plates and finalize an insurance. But hopefully i will have it on Monday. It hasnt been too long of a wait.

Now i have checked that there are a few differences between 2009 and 2008 models. Of what i have been able to compare, i found out that the front part of the seat is quite different to the 2008 model, in that its much more narrow between the legs and not so stiff in composition. Also the texture of the seat is tottally anther material wich is a leather-simil and it has a perforated look to it(its not perforated all the way through, offcourse). It combines perforated areas with plain areas. It looks quite good.
The software,Battery management a seat lock are not the same.(i was told)
Obviously decals and paint scheme are new (but bot nice for my choice)

For the moment those are the things i spotted, when i have it i will continue posting changes if there are. Here some pics of my bike after pulling off plastics and other wrappings. It came with the mirrors and windscrren detached. And no center stand!! its still not available. It is all over the place in the new owners manual, Instruccions of use, perils etc... and clearly points out that its an option.

By the way the fit and finish is all fine except for the glove-box, its quite a bad fit!!!

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

Your arrived to the shop the same way mine did to my home.

There's no dealer in my country, so they delivered it directly from Poland to my home address; in a cage.

Vectrix is a beautiful bike. I just love looking at it.

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

Yes, i totally agree, its such a buitiful bike that i can stay quite a while staring at it. As i dont have my bike cause the plates didnt come in time, they have been very cool and let me a demo one for the weekend, i couldnt say no!

AndY1, i think its very cool from you to have bought the bike without having a Dealer in Slovenia!

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

I have it!!!! It came with 8.5 km on the metre. But when it arrived (in the truck)it had 5.6, so the dealer has done 3, plus the 3km i have done to get home. It has 10.5km!!!!
Im delighted, its much more silent and smooth than the demo i just gave back.Comparing the sprint i can notice that its not so fast as the demo(The new battery has to get fit).
The driving position is slightly different thanks to the new seat design, and i think that the wind shield is 2cm longer, but i cant comfirm it.I will measure it and post it.I will also post a pic of the new seat and its textile.

ill carry on later on, im going to spend sometime checking it out.

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

I did a break-in procedure for NiMH batteries with my Vectrix.

That means that I limited my top-speed at 50km/h for my 1st-3rd charges and 70km/h for 4th-5th charges.
I also used only gentle acceleration for all first 5 charges.

It's good to break-in the batteries.

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

Im not accelerating it too much but i am riding at 70-80km, i have rechrged it 3 times and now have 83km.(by the way in the quote before i had 8.5 km +2km=10.5km)
i am trying to look for the thread where i can learn how to adjust the throttle, because when i am riding and suddenly leave the throttle, the bike is in neutral, then slightly goes into re-gen and then back to neutral.
I think the re-gen position comes in with a very very slight movement of the throttle.

Make sure that you don't have your hand on the throttle when the bike boots up. Otherwise you could be throwing off the neutral position check.

Re: Finally my Vectrix is on the way!!!

hi rady i have noticed that after riding for a wile that the hand grip is made of rubber and if you grip it too hard
what happens is where your thumb and first finger is that 1st's grips rubber grips mooves a fraction and is enuff to stop the nuetrel kiking in and therefore can bring in a little regen in
don't no if thats what is happing to you but what one could do is to grip the handel throttle and gentally pull away from scooter then it returens to where it should hope this helps .kev

In an extreme case you get this:
