EVT 4000e motor upgrade

Hi all,

I purchased an EVT 4000e with a burned out motor a few months ago. I've been trying to find a place to buy a replacement, but I haven't been able to get very good service from the ones that I've called (I won't name names since the only one I remember was the most helpful - I'll be checking out David's suggestions). I've never had so much difficulty getting help to spend $700.

Anyway, the question I'm trying to have answered is this: If I upgrade from a 1500W to a 3000W motor, I understand that I'll have to do a bit of grinding of the rear swingarm, as the axle on the 3000W is a bit larger diameter. Are there any other modifications that I'll have to make? Do the electronics need to be changed out at all?

If not, the other question is, how does this impact the performance? I'm assuming that it'll have more power (good, since I'm 200 lbs), but at what cost? Is it just range?

Thanks!

-Mark

Hi Mark,

you wont get any more power, unless you increase your controller power aswell.
using a higher rated motor just means it will run cooler.

make sure the new motor is rated for the same speed at the same voltage as your old one.
if its rated for a higher voltage, your top speed will be lower.

Matt,

A-ha! That makes sense. I was thinking my power thoughts were wrong, but couldn't figure out what the advantages of the 3000W motor would be.

Thanks!

Re: EVT 4000e motor upgrade

hi what i would do is what i did several years ago is .when my motor got really hot the magnets came apart so need to keep an eye on the motor not to take it over limits . so i took it to a electric motor winders and i took the motor in and they serviced it and it was like new and the charge was zilch zero there you go have a nice day so i couldn't believe it so the least i could do is take a load of bear in to thank them. so go on give it a try get it serviced as these are very robusk motors and to be truthful this scooter took a lot of stick off me what with all the big hills and doing loads of saddeling thats carring a passanger .have a look on utube let me know what you think its. otleyshev68 on there i have two clips made me laff. good luck kevin.

Kevin,

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, the motor on my EVT-4000e is already toast (I got the scooter on the cheap from the guy who burned it out), so I'm having to go with the new motor.

CIMG0068.jpghi and no worrys with all my experiances with the evt do you no what .the scooter trained me to look for loads of alternative routes .
i/e flat as poss but i found aslong as the range wasn't too far this was great as what a great excuse to my girlfrend .as i have to go that way and expect me when you see me i aways came home chilled out as love to ride scooter evt and hade to look after the scooters motor .
as not too get too hot that was the only probblem as the hill could be the mother of all mothers. high.!!
EVT 4000E does what it sayes on the tin ...
do you no what there is another kid on the block well i have had it for 9 months its called e-max 110s well this scooter is well under rated and the breaks have been the best
on any scooter i have ever owned and i have a vectrix aswell and there are a good on par with vectrix.
as soon as i got emax fully charged up . it was poring with rain well i love rain and its now or never . i thought so off i traveld.
i got back home and had done 50 miles i thought that was great. but not only that but the red light was no weare in site
what i mean is that the red light didn't come on to let me no that there was only aprox ten miles left .??????????????
so guess what a few days later i waent out and about allover and red light did come on and the milage i coverd was .
wait for it 60 miles but that was it !!! but if i had an american raod well this baby i recon i could get out of her 70/ 75 miles but that would have to be on the flat thogh.
but now the puchase of vectrix and just passed my bike test so my scooter will be up for sale in next few weeks only don 1,600 miles but
will be sorry to see her go but love to see her been used and not collecting dust . kev :) CIMG0003.jpg

Hi Kevin,
thanks for your EVT report.
Which emax model do you have? what is wattage, battery type, capacity etc?
What is pricing like for eMax where you are?
Sounds like you're in scooter heaven.

Re: EVT 4000e motor upgrade

Hi Kevin,
So, are you saying, in the UK, the new Vectrix, VX-1E(?) is a re-cowled eMax?
On the Vectrix-usa site their three models all look the same to me.

Glad to hear the range estimates are real-world. I really like the "spare" aesthetics of the eMax, and the stock speedo is classico.
