The XM-2000 motor pulls 44 to 48 amps with 46 amps most of the time.

The TRUE top speed on the XM-2000 is 40.5 mph with the 3.5 x 10 tire.

If you use the 3.5 x 10 tire and run full speed, the controller will overheat in warm weather.

Replace the back tire with a Michelin S1
100/90J-10 if you are less than 150 pounds
90/90J-10 if you are over 150 pounds
and that solves the overheat issue

Top speed is the same with the 100, drops to 38.5 with the 90
Range increases with either tire.

Going to a bigger tire than 3.5x10 WILL OVERHEAT the motor and the power wires will desolder and leave you stranded.

If you want information on a bigger controller/motor for more speed and much stronger accel (45 plus mph) email me. It has been tested on the XM for months and includes a rear disc brake upgrade because the XM drum does not work on the newer motor.

It pulls 55 amps, and at 42 amps limited via a Cycle Analyst it still out accels and top speeds the XM-2000 motor when raced side by side even when the new motor controller is being ridden by someone that weighs 50 pounds more than the person on the stock XM.

I am sure there are plenty of other ones out there that you could source if you want to replace, but we haven't found them.

The XM-3000 controller will NOT work with the XM-2000 motor nor will the XM-3000 motor work with the XM-2000 controller, they are not interchangeable.

For SLAs I'd go with Greensaver SP27-12's and five individual smart chargers. A PakTrakr is a good investment if you want to monitor them. SiliconeBatteriesUSA.com is who I bought mine from in the USA - I recommend them.

You might also want to consider LFPs. Thundersky 40Ah cells are about $68 each and you could get by with 19 (19 * 3.2 = 60.8V). Or you could consider the 20Ah cells for half that. Bear in mind that the SP27's don't have much more than 20Ah usable anyway (I can't remember the figures - maybe something like 23Ah at the draw rate required by the scooter). So, a 19 cell 20Ah LFP pack would cost you $646. You'd need to add a charger and a BMS to that. The best value BMS I know of is the one sold by Gary Goodrun over at TPPacks.com - PJD on this site has a lot of experience with a TS LFP + TPPacks BMS set up. When I get "around to it" I'm going to upgrade either my XM-2000 or XM-3000 with a 20Ah LFP setup (but that won't happen until much later this year).

I'm finding it hard to figure how to create a new topic with the new siteware, so I'm adding this here: while cleaning my garage this evening, I found a brand new front hydraulic brake assembly I'd ordered years ago, for my long-gone XM-3000. It's a master cylinder with brake lever attached, hose, and calipers, all pre-attached to each other, and I assume filled with hydraulic fluid. They were still in the shipping box. Anyone want to make me an offer for them?

I also just found the controller that came with the bike, which was replaced by a new one. I now believe, based on the symptoms the bike had, that the shipping damage was limited to the hubmotor, and the controller was very likely ok. It wasn't handled gently when replaced, though, so I can't guarantee it still works. Make me an offer that's just high enough to make me bother to ship them, and both are yours.
