EV Ebike Troubleshoot

I just bought a 24v Ebike and I can't seem to get it going. It drove fine before I loaded it into the car. Now with battery hooked up it runs the tail light constantly, runs it's normal diag., but zero acceleration (no activity at all). Any ideas? I've charged the battery up - the diag. light on the bike's shifter post shows full.
Help - I'd like to use the thing! It ran before I spent $450!
Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,
Many EVs are fitted with a brake inhibit switch. First thing I'd try is to put both brakes on/off firmly a few times? Find and check those switches.
I take it it is not one of those bike where you have to pedal first?
One of my E bikes has to be rocked forward before it will go.
What does the troubleshooting section in your manual say?
Give the previous owner a call?

Good luck - Dave.

Re: EV Ebike Troubleshoot

I agree that its the brake controller inhibit switch.
You said the tail light is on. That I bet it activated by the brake switch.
It somehow got out of adjustment and the switch now is always closed.
Is this an EVG ebike? If so I can help troubleshoot further.

Re: EV Ebike Troubleshoot

Is the kickstand up?
Sometimes it has a switch wired to the same motor-inhibit circuit.

Or, is a "main" circuit breaker turned off?

Cheers, Gary
