Is it possible to use a lifepo4 battery with EVT 168 and 4000e?

I'm a noob but heard that these batteries have a longer lifespan and are safer for the enviroment?

I'm planning to do that. I have no doubt it will work so long as your battery is close enough to 48 volts.

The EVT dashboard has a fuel gauge that's making assumptions on future range based on assuming it's a 48 volt lead acid battery pack. If you want that dashboard to semi-accurately reflect the state of charge it should be close to 48 volts.

The other thing to consider is whether the controller can take more than 48 volts. I think the controller will take 60 volts and the motor has been run at up to 72 volts that I know of. There's always a risk when overvolting a controller that the components will not take the higher voltage.

Hi,

I'm a new member. Just got an EVTA Z20a. Not happy with EVTA, but that's a long story.

I have two issues.

1. I'd like to upgrade to a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, and understand the need for replacement to approximate correct voltage. My question is: Is there a supplier of such batteries that anyone likes?

2. Tire specs: I can't find them anywhere in industry format (blah x blah x blah) only the earlier forum post about their width and diameter. Does anyone have this info?

Thx, Mac

Hi David,

I'm considering the same as my SLA charger died 2 weeks ago. I guess the best solution would be a 60V 40AH lifePO4 pack from Thundersky because they are easy to stack and can provide high peak amp.

Can someone help me with the price of adding a new Lifpo4 48v 50ah battery for an EVT 168 or 60v 50ah? Do I need a charger? what else? Sorry I'm a noob and although I've been trawling the internet for info nothing seems to make sense. Need info in Layman's terms.
I know of someone who is selling an EVT168 without battery so just trying to figure out the finances/possibilities.

Thanks

If you are planning to use the 60 V mod please make sure, that you connect the controller and DC/DC at 48 V, otherwise it will not work.

When it comes to Lead batteries they are often rated 50Ah at 20 h discharge (C20) where as LiFePo4 is rated at one hour discharge (C1).

Good luck
