I am about to buy a Vectrix, pending a weeks testing, but can not find an insurance company in Australia who would cover the Vectrix. None of the big or small bike insurers are interested or any one else I rang for that matter.
Could some Oz members please point me in the right direction.

If you are buying it from an official dealer, they should be able to tell you who insures the Vectrix now.
I'm with one of the bigger insurers, you probably already tried that one. I'll have to look up who it is before I tell you something wrong.
Are you coming to the AEVA / Better Place Meeting at Upper Mt Gravatt tomorrow? http://www.aeva.asn.au/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=679&PID=11748#11748

I have my Vectrix insured with NRMA - a comprehensive policy and am in Sydney. It should be in their system as Vectrix Maxi.
Their was an old thread on insurance in which myself and other Aussies (as well as others) posted their insurance providers and/or cost.
I think it is this one (and I'm also with the NRMA): http://visforvoltage.org/forum/3403-best-and-cheapest-insurance

I wasn't aware of the meeting and missed it, darn.
How did the trip up to brisbane go? Did the charging schedule worked out as anticipared?
re. insurance I got two quotes today but they are still more than twice as high as I pay for my beemer. Is this another penalty or just ignorance?
i suspect its a risk penalty, mainly due to most of their favoured repairers not being able to competently repair the vectrix. ignorance also plays a part i suspect.
i use swann insurance for my emax.
just 3rd party costs me $220/yr (and the particular category they put it under was 600cc maxi scooter!!)
how much were your quotes for?

Daily Ride:
2007 Vectrix, modified with 42 x Thundersky 60Ah in July 2010. Done 194'000km
CGU-$535, Ansvar-$405 and Elders who insures Vectrix Melbourne declined. In contrast I pay $171 comprehensive, for my R80.
Yes, it went well.
