Watching him I remember, how my Vectrix used to go. At 6-7 bars left, I can't reach 100km/h anymore, no way, while he does 110+ at 3 bars left.
I have got to get mine for warranty repair of the battery ASAP.
Hmmm...Must be in a hurry to get to the morgue! HAHA!! ;-)
Looks like somebody's been tinkering with the control board! ;-) Interesting, but I don't think I want my Vectrix to run like that, 'cause I sure as heck ain't going to RIDE it like that!! HAHA!! :-)
But I wonder why his speedo claims he is going over 102km/h.
It does not look like he is really going that fast, just too fast for the traffic conditions.
I believe it's a fake, or a speedo malfunction, and if he /she was riding it on a highway it would be obvious that the cars are passing the Vectrix despite the speedo fault!
This information may be used entirely at your own risk.
I also suspect this has a speedo malfunction too - at one point, it goes off the scale. At those speeds, the battery charge would disappear quicker than you could say antidisestablishmentarianism.
The give away is the final couple of seconds of the video. At the end of the video, you can hear the motor (and the Vectrix) almost come to a complete stop while the speedometer needle is still moving right along. Still did pretty good on the energy consumed--even if he never exceeded 100KPH. What's next? Stunting on a Vectrix?
Hi. I never had the intention to internationalize this video.
As you can see in the video comments, I said that I'm sorry for not telling before that the speedometer had a malfunction. It's a malfunction...
Nevertheless, my Vectrix can reach 100kph with 3 bars left. It just takes more time to get there... This batteries have been well treated. I have more videos in vimeo. You can see almost all the battery discharge in these one: http://www.vimeo.com/4292277
For them who use some offensive words, I honestly hope that you never taste those angry words from someone else on your deeds.

You ARE a bloody idiot and I hope that the authorities prosecute you for your reckless driving! You could have easily killed someone during your ride!
This information may be used entirely at your own risk.
I also tried to broke-in mine nicely, as I fly RC Helicopters and I know how to brake them in, but at the beginning, when I got the bike, I wasn't aware, that one of my battery cooling fans wasn't working at all, as I didn't have any reference Vectrix to compare it to, but I heard some fans, which I thought, it was ok.
The result was 2 nasty overheats of the battery, when I left them to fully recharge overnight after a full charge and full discharge cycle as in the manual.
Those 2 overheats, as I suspected back then, resulted in a damaged battery. The air plenum was replaced, but the damage was done at the most crutial time - breaking in time.
I, now, start loosing power at 6-7 bars left, I reach 100km/h slowly, I get BALPOR at 3 bars left and I get BATHOT battery after a 15-20km of fast driving, without battery cooling even fans turning on :-(
At the moment, on long trips, I drive gently, no more than 70km/h and do 100km/h only for short trips.

Mik, that is a normal kind of driving in Spain, Italy and Portugal ;-)
Mostly scooterists drive, like the above video. I miswrote back there. ;-)
Nothing to worry about :-) They have a lifetime experience, since they drive scooters since very young. There are 300.000 new scooters sold in Italy each year -> many scooters on the road :-) And they all drive like that. You have to visit Italy some day, haha.

Well, it's a cultural thing, I guess!
We 're all calling each other bloody idiots in Australia, all the time! Not to worry!
(Are you sure the 300000 scooters each year are not just replacing all the ones trashed due to those peculiar driving habits?)
This information may be used entirely at your own risk.
Just to clarify, Pt-Volt`s way of driving is not normal but quite common in Spain, and i think in Portugal and Italy too. This way of driving is 20% above "normal" and i suppose he did that 20% for the video.
I knew there was something worng when the consumption of bars was so normal.I had spopken to the tech in Vectrix about the speed limit, and he told me that just 2km top speed from the actual 103 km/h to 105km/h would have meant a great deal of extra consumption and stress. and that at 110km/h it would dry the battery in minuites!!
So imagine if PT-Volt was doing 140km/h!!
Dear Andy1
I suppose this is a technical Vectrix forum and not a nationalist or racist site. Maybe I am wrong but just to clarify, your comment will be notify to the forum administrator.
I would like to invite you to apologize immediatelly to all Italian, Spanish and Portugal people for the offensive phrases you've written
Please do, because I find nothing offensive or political in my posts.
In fact, I was the one calming the situation down.
Edit: It is my personal experience, that Italian and Spanish scooterists drive like that and I think that Portugal has the highest road death toll per capita in the EU.
There you go, now you made it political, but purely because I have to defend my opinion, even though none of my above posts were offensive or political.
Well, I could just ask how many kms you have without accidents and share the ones I do. But, what would it prove?
Maybe we have different cultures. Maybe we have different ways of driving. But you can't imagine what I see in the moment I pass the other vehicles. The camera is too low. In the video, I don't pass the other drivers in the beginning of the corners. Only in the end. Guess why? Because I only did it when I had enough visibility to.
I guess it's easier for you to say that I'm a bad driver and, probably, it's impossible for me to survive with this "driving".
I would sincerely hope that you could be more tolerant, but to be tolerant, you have to be somehow more capable than the one you criticize, and we don't have enough information to reach such conclusion...
PT-Volt, I think your post was not directed towards me?
What I'm trying to say is, that I was there to defend your style of driving, because I know this style and I understand it, because I've driven with it, when I was in Italy and Spain.
What I'm trying to say to others, that read this thread is, that Italians, Spaniards and Portugese have this kind of driving and it's perfectly safe, although it may not look as safe. Although we (other nations) don't understand it, I have never seen one accident by their scooter drivers. It may look as a wild ride to us, but they're so used to it, that it's perfectly safe and normal and I've gotten used to it.
By the way, have you ever wondered, why some of the best GP motorcyclist come from Spain, Italy and Portugal? ;-)
No AndY1, you guessed right.
I was talking to Mik. He's the one showing the intolerance speech. And I'm trying hard to be polite. I know the different cultures and ways of driving. In the next month I'm going to pass by eight (or nine) different European countries. It's nothing new.
I'm in this world to make friends and not to create enemies. Life is too short to hold grudges.

Easy on the man, he used to drive an hayabusa... so vectrix is a piece of cake... besides the only harm that he can do is to himself. City driving teached him to know every millimeter, I understand that may look crazy to people are not used to daily transit (rush hour).
Please do, because I find nothing offensive or political in my posts.

I found nothing offensive on AndY1. It is partially true. In Rome a red sign means go forward. The transit is chaotic even for Spanish and Portuguese guys who are also Latin but more moderated. I am Portuguese, so I know what I am talking about...

hindsight is 20/20
My GPS says my Vectrix tops out at 113kmh
takes 12kw continuous to hold that speed, fairly energy intensive, but not a great deal of extra stress. Still takes a good 12 minutes to drain a stock battery :D
Wish my bike would top out at 140kmh, it would be more useful for overtaking on (relatively) country runs

Daily Ride:
2007 Vectrix, modified with 42 x Thundersky 60Ah in July 2010. Done 194'000km
Wow - that's amazing - I never noticed this video until the recent postings made it jump up on the list.
Obviously someone knew how to modify both the firmware (governed top speed) and the drive train (Li-ion batteries in 2008?). Maybe this was a second generation Vectrix experimental prototype...
There is something wrong with the speedo. The owner mentions it higher up in the thread and when you see the rider slow at an intersection the speedo still registers 50 km/hr.
There was a modified firmware for static demo units: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DWtsfSUpk8&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
At 50km/h the speedo nail pointed to 100km/h. It may be easy for anybody inside vectrix's factory to have a modified unit running with those modified firmwares.
Watching him I remember, how my Vectrix used to go. At 6-7 bars left, I can't reach 100km/h anymore, no way, while he does 110+ at 3 bars left.

This video of his is even more crazy. He has the needle buried in an area I have never seen on my Vectrix.

You have a really well broken-in battery.

That's how all the motorcyclists drive there :-)
Then the three bikes he passes at 3:40 into the ride must be tourists. They seem to drive sensibly.
If they were all driving like that, then it's even worse, because when two of them meet in opposite directions, they will most likely hit each other.
This information may be used entirely at your own risk.
