XB-600 Front Axle Spacers Question

We received our new XB-600 last week, and we've been enjoying it immensely. However, it came with just one front axle spacer (for the NON-BRAKE side). The front wheel is perfectly centered in the fork by just using the spacer on the NON-BRAKE side, and the brake assembly correctly engages the "nub" that keeps it in position.
However, the instructions said there should be a second spacer for the BRAKE SIDE, which I requested and received from X-Treme within a couple of days. But when I tried to install this second spacer, it obviously didn't have room to fit, and it would have moved the brake assembly away from the nub that is meant to engage it. I've looked at photos on this forum of the front end spacers, but there's no clear photo I could find of just the brake side of the front wheel which shows the spacer in place and the brake assembly properly engaging the "nub".
Has the front end of the XB-600 been redesigned so there's no longer a need for the spacer on the brake side? If so, that would explain why I didn't receive a brake-side spacer to begin with.

Re: XB-600 Front Axle Spacers Question

I have to say I encountered the same situation when I got my xb-600 as well. I did not receive the 2nd spacer either, however, since it fit fine without it I didnt even bother to call xtreme about it. I have had the bike for several months now and no ill effects as of yet. I do believe that the design of the front wheel has changed and xtreme is either too lazy or doesnt care about changing the installation instructions.

Re: XB-600 Front Axle Spacers Question

Ditto "sixpax2k9." When the front wheel fit perfectly, I assumed it was a manufacturer change that the instructions hadn't caught up with.

There's also something about tightening the "12mm steering bolt." I opened the dash/instrument panel as directed (it is held on with a lot more than four screws!) and found nothing loose. I suspect that the earlier method of shipping turned the handlebars to fit in the carton, but that they decided shipping it with the steering fully assembled reduced the number of lawsuits...

Re: XB-600 Front Axle Spacers Question

I heard back from X-Treme and they acknowledge that sometimes the bikes are redesigned and they are not aware of it, and the instructions haven't kept up. Their tech person said that as long as the wheel is centered in the front fork, the brake assembly engages the "nub" to keep it in position, and the wheel fits snugly between the fittings (so it can't slide back and forth along the axle), then it's fine.
In addition to having more screws to secure the dash panel and having the front fork already aligned and tightened (as previously mentioned), I also noticed that the rear cargo carrier attaches differently from the way described in the instructions and the side view mirrors now screw directly into the handlebars and not through the plastic dashboard panel. Also, my instructions say the bike has "a sealed lithium battery" (page 3), which it obviously does not. Anyway, most of these seem to be genuine improvements, but it's confusing when the instructions don't match the product, especially for first-time buyers who may not be mechanically or electrically inclined.

Re: XB-600 Front Axle Spacers Question

Keep in mind that this product was never really manufactured with the intent of it being used in the North American Market. This class of vehicle is extremely popular in Chinese cities since most major throughways include bike/moped-only lanes which are integrated into the signaling for intersections.
I was surprised it came with a manual at all. Even if it is fairly useless and outdated because the manufacturer can't afford to retranslate any alteration made to it.
