Hey all, I've looked around here trying to figure out what to do, but I know so little about this stuff that I just need to ask my own question.
So anyways, I got this scooter on Ebay about a month ago. It didn't come with a charger, so I picked up this charger: http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/36v1xlrbach.html
So I plug that charger in and it has a solid green light and a blinking red light. I assume that means charging b/c there were no instructions that came with it. For the first several rides (over the course of a few days) I would hop on the scooter and the battery-draw indicator would go straight from green to red and stay there even once I reached cruising speed, which didn't last long b/c after about 100 yds the scooter would start slowing down noticeably. So I leave it plugged in for the weekend without touching it and when I come back it has a solid red light instead of the green with blinking red. I take it out for a ride and it works wonderfully, its much faster, while accelerating it only goes down to yellow and once I reach cruising speed it stays on green. After every ride I would plug it in to charge, and it would have the green with blinking red like it did before for a while (hour or so) and then go to solid red again. The scooter worked great for about a week, then a few days ago I notice that its barely taking me a mile on a pretty flat surface (it did 5 miles no problem the week before). Every day since then it has been making it less and less. When I plug it in now it only does the green/blinking red for maybe 5 minutes before going solid red.
Today I decide that something is definitely not right and I open the deck to check the connections and whatnot. I pull out the battery and it feels kind of odd to me. I unzip the pouch its in and lo and behold, both batteries are bulging like crazy. I'm obviously not going to ride it until this is all resolved, especially since it looked like the tops of the batteries might actually pop off.
So what do you all think? I'm sure I need to buy new batteries. Also, I'm pretty sure these batteries are the original ones, since the sticker on the side of the battery housing says September 2008. Where would you suggest getting ones for cheap? Do you think the charger is junk too? If so, what should I get for a replacement? I'm a poor college student, so just keep that in mind please.

Your new charger is 36V, and you have 2 batteries in the scooter which gives you 24V. So, you overcharged and cooked your batteries. You will need new ones of course, and a matching 24V charger.
So get this:
I take a closer look at the site I bought the charger from, because I found that charger under their eZip 400 compatible section. http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/ezipe400.html
So it turns out what I bought was the 24V 1.6A one. I checked my sales receipt and my shipping receipt and both of them state that I purchase and was shipped a 24V 1.6A charger. Somehow at some point between them processing my purchase and the package being sent to me one of their employees put in the wrong charger, leading to the destruction of my batteries. Needless to say I am a little bit upset with them.
The link in your original post is different than the one in your post above, i think that it is your error not the companies. Anyway if you explain to them what happened, they may credit you the charger. Hope this helps.

The first link I posted was actually just from me finding the equivalent adapter to what I had in my hands. It wasn't until after I made that post that I went through the same process of finding it that I did originally, which led me to the 2nd link I posted (the one I purchased) and that is when I realized that what I had actually bought was the correct one, they just didn't send me the correct one.
That is most unfortunate. You should clearly take it up with the company. At the very least they owe you the correct charger. They may or may not admit to some liability for the consequential damage to your battery (their small print probably says somewhere that such things are at your own risk). It is a great pity you didn't notice the discrepancy when you first received it and had charging issues, but it is a relatively easy mistake for a non electrically-minded person to make. As a consumer you buy the charger and plug it in - you don't expect to have to be checking comatibility with 'all those numbers'.
