Re: Help with new Board

Ya I know, but it was a little cooler because of the rain so I took advantage, Freeline skates are really cool, I may hurt myself, being old and all, but still surfing, so I may be alright, here is a youtube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgh0sqGacnU

Re: Help with new Board

Pool - Those skates seem like a LOT of work!!!! hahah - I think I am going to stick with my mountainboard... I am finally going to add the second foot strap (so it will be setup like a snowboard) - I really want to get to the point that I am strapped in and the board follows exactly where I want to carve. Right now - I carve great leaning forward into a curve - but leaning back is still a problem.

Plan - nice to hear you have worked out the battery issue... when does your controller come in? I am looking at upgrading more board (hearing everyone talk about it gets you excited about doing it as well) - but I may just settle for a new battery pack (mine is certainly aged)...

Re: Help with new Board

Hey Guys,

I agree with Ice, they do look like too much work (now if you could put a motor on them). The new pistol grip remote for the Elektroboard is suppose to be out in about a month. Can't wait, the oval remote is kind of scary. Push button for the brake, it's either on or off, you hit the button and it stops suddenly, I've locked up the drive wheel a few times. It's not bad on flat straight ground but if you have some speed going downhill or going through a turn it could pitch you right off. If I don't see any progress on the new ones soon I think I'll just order an extra oval remote from them and an extra pistol grip from Altered (Exkate) and make my own.

Re: Help with new Board

Hey Guys,
Been in Orlando, My sister that lives in Tn. rented a house in a new subdivision, not many houses, but lots of nice streets, took the G1, had a blast, I was the oldest there, in house with 12 people, and couldn't get anyone to ride it, Anyway ice I think the straps would be a great idea on a mountain or off road board, they come in handy on my windsurfer, still want to build one, too much stuff going on right now, but I am keeping my eye on ebay for a cheap board to play with, and planner I think Elektroskate already offers the pistol grip on there off road boards, was on there website a few days ago, don't think it will be long...

Hey,
My wife bought me a RipStik G for Fathers Day, Just took it out for a little over a mile ride, Wow can hardly type, it takes a lot of effort to keep it going, but it is fun....
Hay planner there is an original Exskate on Ebay, that needs batteries, the guy says it goes 27mph is that possible???

Re: Help with new Board

Hey Poolman,

That is the first generation Exkate, you can tell by the way the motor is in the rear. They were pretty powerful boards but they were really heavy too. The only way they would go 27 miles per hour is off a cliff. Believe me, they are fast though. If you could get it for a decent price, I would buy it. Back then, they were the best of the best. I think $300.00 without batteries is a fair price, you won't go wrong.

Re: Help with new Board

You guys like your boards... Are you all combining them to make one super board - or are you keeping several around for others to you (kids, etc...)

As for my current project - I was able to completely redo the bindings on the board, adding the rear-leg binding as well. You definitely get WAY more control with two tight bindings. I found that my feet get tired after extended riding (about an hour). Also, my batteries are increasingly showing signs of age. I was thinking about upgrading to 36volts - but I think I am going to stick with 24volts and simply upgrade to a better battery technology. Do you guys have any experience with LiFeP04 batteries? I am looking for a 24volt 15amp pack - at the best price...

Let me know what you guys think

Re: Help with new Board

Hey,
Ya I didn't think it would go that fast, I wasn't planning on buying it, (unless it went 27mph) my Rincon, I think, is a lot more advanced than that board, just would like it to be a little faster.....

Re: Help with new Board

Yeah, unless he modified his board, there is no way it would go that fast. The first generation boards had a lot of reliabilty issues too. My buddies was in the shop all the time. If I were you, I would just upgrade the Rincon, a lot cheaper. Well, I should be getting my slick wheels for the Elektroskate in a few days and I should be getting the new Rokit Science board in about the same time. I'll keep you guys informed.

Re: Help with new Board

I wish it were 100 degrees here, of course without the humidity. It is in the 70's though, not too bad. Poolman, check out You Tube, there is a guy on there that has a 1500 watt skateboard, pretty crazy. All that I did was type in "1500 watt electric skateboard" and his video comes up. Someone else told me about it, suppose to go 45 miles an hour, has front disc brakes. Well, checked UPS tracking today and my Rokit Science board is suppose to be delivered on Friday. Probably test it Friday afternoon, I'll give a review later in the evening.

Re: Help with new Board

Hey Poolman,

Where are you at. The wife must have you working your butt off. Been testing my new Rokit Science board the last couple of days. Nice board. About 5 inches longer than my other two boards but still weighs about 25 pounds. It's faster than my Exkate but not as fast as my Elektroskate. I think the Elektroskate is faster because of the brushless motor (not as much friction, I don't know). The more I ride the Rokit Science board the better it runs though. I'm not sure if that's because the brushes are starting to wear in. It is a really stable board. Great for crusing. Anyway, how are your projects going, haven't heard from you in a few days, hope everything is good.

Re: Help with new Board

Sorry,
I haven't been working, just a lot of other stuff going on, The Rokit Science board sounds really good, and it only weighs 25lbs. Wow, My Son-in-law was up today, So we took both boards on a five mile run, It's a lot more fun when two people are on the boards, I let him use the Rincon, just because of the pistol controller, he had never ridden an electric board before, But he loved it, he weighs about 20lbs. less than I do, But my modified G1 was still a little faster, got to do a battery switch and see if that makes any difference, Hey there is a Rokit Science board on Ebay for sale, I think it is around $500.00 plus shipping, seems like a good deal, just can't spend the money right now...

Planner, where are you? The science board still on Ebay, $80 dollars to ship, seems like a good deal, not lithium, not sure what do you ...

Re: Help with new Board

Hey,
Still not sure about the science board on ebay, But I finally changed rear wheel on G1, the old one was trashed, missing chunks of rubber, the belt looks a little worn, but not to bad, will order one in the next few weeks, so when it breaks I will have it on hand, also replaced wires going to throttle, the wire that come with throttle is very thin and has broke a few times, So I soldered bigger wire on, I am posting a few pics, black wheel is the old one, the red one is new wheel, actually the red one was the original one on G1 but put on black one, to make it go a little faster, it is a little bigger in diameter..old tire.JPGnew tire.JPG

Re: Help with new Board

Hey Poolman,

The Rokit Science board you're checking out must have lead acid batteries, which means it couldn't weigh 25 pounds. That's what my Lithium powered Rokit Science board weighs. That's not a bad price though, their boards are really well made. Have you checked out their website?

Re: Help with new Board

Do you experience any balance issues with having a 3-wheel setup?

As for my project - here is a picture of the new bindings setup:
IMG_0038.JPG

I am still contemplating the move to lithium... Planner - you said your board is lithium and not SLA - Did you upgrade to it?

Re: Help with new Board

Ya it is SLA batteries, still seems like a good price, but I think I will let it pass, And no balance problems at all with three wheels, I think it handles a little better the the four wheel Rincon, but the front wheels actually turn when you lean on the G1, My wife rode the Rincon today, for the first time, she doesn't surf or skateboard, but she liked it a lot, don't know if that is a good thing or not, Still want to build and off road 48v board, just need a nice longboard, trucks and batteries, already have wheels and tires, and the razor 300 to cut up, may take a while but I think it could be cool, And yes have been on that site, very nice looking boards......And ice, nice picture of the bindings, thought planner was going to post some pics, ha ha it's all good....The board on Ebayis 36lbs...

Re: Help with new Board

Hey Iceman,

I have three boards. Exkate X-24 (24 volt lead acid batteries) 50 lbs. Rokit Science (36 volt LifePO4 batteries) purchased with the Lithium, 25 lbs. and Elektroskate (36 volt LifePO4 batteries) purchased with the Lithium, 25 lbs. If I had the knowledge I would convert the Exkate to LifePO4 also. Unfortunately, if I tried to modify my own boards I would probably screw it up so bad that I would have more money into it than what a new board costs.

Hey Poolman,

I know I need to set up my digital camera for a lower resolution to send pictures to this post, can I just drag them into this box? As you can tell, I'm not completly computer literate either.

Now ask me about beer, and there is nothing I can't tell you about that subject. :-)

Re: Help with new Board

Hey Poolman,

I'll see about getting some pictures out this weekend. Well, took the Elektroskate out yesterday (just put their new slick wheels on it). They are a pretty soft compound. They don't have any radius's on the edges so they are wide and flat. Problem with that is that they don't roll over small obstacles real easy (so I found out the hard way). I was crusing around at about 20mph and saw a small obstacle in the road. Thought it would roll over it like my other boards do, well, it didn't, it stopped right in it's tracks. I didn't. Tried to run it out but I ended up doing a superman right onto the asphalt street. Scraped up my hands a little bit and scraped up one of my knees even better. I learned my lesson. Just got through ordering a set of slick wheels from the Rokit Science company. They fit the Elektroskate and have the rounded edges. Maybe I'll get a set of knee pads too, that hurt like hell. What hurts even more is the muscle I pulled from trying to run it out. I guess I'll (try) to be a little more careful of what I ride over. Are you taking your board(s) out this weekend?

Re: Help with new Board

This hurt to read... I always wonder what I am going to do when I bite it... So far, I have been able to run it out. Mind you, the UM70 maxes out at 12 mph - not quite fast enough to cause serious damage. Can't wait to see the pics.

Re: Help with new Board

Hey Iceman,

The cool part about it is I just tell the girls it happened in a bar fight and I get all kinds of sympathy. Ok, I'm dreaming. I took my Rokit Science board out this afternoon, I couldn't believe how gun shy I was. And this board is not even close to as fast as the Elektroskate. I forgot to bring home my good digital camera from work, I guess I'll take some pictures with my phone and upload for you guys. Be patient, you might end up seeing pictures of my girlfriend. She's kind of fun to ride and really dangerous too. Let me know what you like more :-)

All you guys have a good fourth of July, stay safe (as you can).

Re: Help with new Board

Hey,
Sorry to hear about the wipeout, I catch the end of people's driveways, a quick dart in and a quick dart out, it's fun, and makes some good noise, but a few weeks ago on the dart out,the road was a lot higher than the drive way, and sent me flying, the good thing is I went into the grass, So just a few grass stains, been taking the boards to Publix, every few days to get a few things, kinda fun, Can't wait to see some pics, Sorry I haven't been on much, I am a big time FTAer, and the sky has fallen, So been doing a lot of work on another site, My wife don't know it but started gathering parts for the 48v off road board, bidding on a controller and a charger, So have a Happy and Safe Independence Day,,(NO WIPEOUTS)

Re: Help with new Board

Hey Guys,
Well took G1 out last night to watch fireworks, way cool, stayed out to 11:30pm cruising around, Now the bad news, since I did wheel swap, been making a funny noise, well the noise is, it is eating up the belt, It ate up the belt before, when I had that wheel on, So I guess that the sprocket is messed up, So just ordered 2 new belts and new rear wheel, there went another $50.00, need to get a second job to pay for this hobby, ha ha it's all good will let You know when I get the parts...

Re: Help with new Board

I couldn't find the auction... Would have been nice to see how much it goes for. Oh well - I found the perfect place to ride an electric mountainboard - Frisbee golf course!!! Unbelievable how well suited the terrain is to the power board. Unfortunately, the amount of jarring had an unforeseen effect on the motor mounts... I loss one of the 5 bolts holding the motor + electric assembly in place. Since I have no idea what size it was (the single screw / bolt on the left side, so no hope for comparison) - I will have to take the whole part to home depot to figure it out :-(

I have been hoping to hold off on putting any money into the board. As a professional student on loans - I am rather short on expendable income (as in I have none) - But a new battery would really go a long way towards my overall enjoyment. Really, who can put a price on happiness?

Hey I think this is the link to the Urban Mover on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/UM-70-ALL-TERRAIN-Electric-Skateboard-ultra-quiet_W0QQitemZ120444402621QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0...|66%3A2|39%3A1|72%3A1205|293%3A1|294%3A50 Ya this link works, just tried it, I got the bid up to $75.00, then was out bid, I really like the looks of them, There are SLA batteries on Ebay for very good prices, I paid only 75 or 80 bucks for 3 12v 12ah, understand the no money thing, not much going on here.

Re: Help with new Board

Hey Guys,

Hope you all had a good 4th. It was hot and beautiful here, a lot of bikinis (and beer). Took the Exkate out for a little while, kind of crowded for the board though. Didn't crash and burn, still healing. It's amazing how I try to go around any little rock now, kind of gun shy. Still need to upload some pictures, sorry for the delay. Sounds like you guys are busy with the maintenance of your boards. Hope to get the new remote for the Elektroskate in a couple of weeks, that's going to be scary, that board flies. I guess I had better get a set on knee pads real soon. Catch you guys later. Stay safe!

Re: Help with new Board

Wow - hot deal on that UM70 - I would be all over it if I didn't have mine. It would be a shocking change coming from a 20 mph board - stock the UM70 goes 12 to 13 mph. Adding the ability to go in and out of the grass is nice though. The battery will probably need a bunch of conditioning too. I wonder how much it will go for - I know he probably wants a good amount of his 699 back - but it wont be happening. Someone is going to get a hot deal on that board.
