Yes it is. Although I would recommend still using the brake connector because without the motor brake you're going to have a difficult time stopping.

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

Cool ! I bought a Xb-500... well it's a copy of it. Its the same frame, lights, and the wiring is totally diffenrent. its a 36v controller, no DC-DC converter. totaly different in terms of wiring. I want to buy the xb 600 motor and controller with the 72v mod. and bypass the signals, lights, and all the other electric feature for now.

I have a ohter question.

Some peaple say its a diffren motor between the 500 and the 600. But xtreamscooters tells me its defferent. Is the motor will fit on the Xb-500? Is the sizes the same ?

Thanks again

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

Since you're essentially building a new scoot, the real question is what will fit in your frame.

What diameter is the wheel? What braking system (disk - drum)? What side? What rear fork arm width? What axle diameter?

Crucially, will the frame safely carry you at the speeds you will be generating?

The frame is 100% Xb-500. Only the wiring. The braking system is all drum too. Is the motor from the Xb-600 will fit ?

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

"Will an XB-600 motor fit?"

I don't know. When you say that your scoot is exactly like an XB-500, does that mean you have had the two scoots beside each other, or that it looks like XB-500 photos? The Chinese manufacturing system is big on subcontractors selling sub-assemblies and aggregators combining them into products, so there can be a lot more variation than you might at first expect.

I only own an XB-600 (and it really isn't fair to ask X-Treme for info on converting something they don't know about). The dimensions I listed seem like the critical ones to me. Please measure the space you have, and I will do the same tonight; the scoot's not with me at the moment.

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

Your right it's looks like the same. If it's not exactly the same tire and tube, i can just order an tire and the tube for the xb-600 motor. If the space is to wide or too small I'll change the metal part and solder with plasma solder a new metal frame. Of curse if the frame is the same size. It would be much much easer. I'll tell you the size between the bolts tonight. I'm at work too.

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

An XB-600 is:

  • Wheel 12x2.5
  • Brake: Drum, left side
  • Brake anti-torque arm: Left side, 4 1/2" from axle
  • Rear swing arm: 6 1/8" inside (+- 1/4")
  • Axle dia: 5/8"

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

No joke my copy of Xb-500 is

# Wheel 12x2.5
# Brake: Drum, left side
# Brake/anti-torque arm: Left side, 4 1/2" from axle
# Rear swing arm: 6 1/8" inside
# Axle dia: 3/8

All will fit :P

"vaya con Dios mi amigo"

The 3/8 axle is listed by X-Treme as an option, but I would advocate grinding the swing arm out and using the 5/8" one instead - it would be twice as strong.

Now, if they have one in stock...

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

Since the real diameter is in millimeters, who knows? I got that dimension by holding a tape measure up to the end of the axle. I'd get the fattest axle they have.

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

I've just order the parts for the optomising of the scooter

XB-600 Tire
XB-600 Tube
Rear Tube XB600-131/XB600-131R
Motor / Rear Wheel
Hand Throttle

I've started to remove the old motor and the wiring. I would like some photos of the rear wheel of the Xb-600. Without the plastic frame. To see the torque arm and the bolts and everything... Thanks

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

I posted a message about securing the motor in http://visforvoltage.org/forum/4655-xb600-getting-rear-axle-tight#comment-39062

There's no torque arm, but the tabbed washers key into the swing arm and lock by the flats on the axle. They must fit very well - the tabs were too deep and held the outer washer off the swing arm on my scoot. There is a particular arrangement of the spacers on the brake (left) side. I can do some photos tonight (the plastic covers are LONG gone!), but I'm not ready to disassemble the wheel right now.

Mark

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

This is a bad news for me. Thanks for the drawing. I'll wait my parts to see and your photos to confirm my fears. Is the E-brake slow tne motor ? or is just a system to avoid trottle input when you brake ?

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

E-brake is dynamic braking. The right brake lever both

  1. cuts controller power to wheel
  2. Initiates a fixed ~10% dynamic braking, about equal to a third light brake. There is no regen on braking.

The left lever only inhibits controller power.

In addition, when coasting above 22 MPH, the controller/motor goes into regen mode, putting up to 400W back into the pack.

Re: Plug only the motor, batteries, speed holder.

I've just called Miva. The compagnie behind extremscooter.biz. 3 of my 5 parts are back order. 2 to 3 weeks to receive all. I'm living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and the summer here is like 3 months. 2 is already past in rain and the rest...well... we'll see. While I wait, I'll redo the connections of the batteries. I have two 36 volt chargers so I'll put a switch to charge or to travel. It will give me time to buy the mosfets, the batteries (3 others cause the old bike was only 36v)and to do the baterie wiring. Really sorry for my english... I'm french.
Here a scan of my battery wiring.
