Insufficient Contiuous Current From A Lot Of Lithium Ion Battery Pack Manufacturers

Just trying to find a Lithium Ion pack capable of supporting a 400 to 600 amp controller 20 to 30 miles
Brushless hub motor at 72 volts.........oh wait........let me guess............sixty two hundred and forty three dallars
and three cents.............................Will that be cash or.........NEVER!
Anyone else in the same car as me?

uh... can I talk to you about some lead batteries? ;-)

Actually let me suggest the headway batteries. Not sure but I think you could use a 100ah pack of headway cells to support that peak load. But if $643 is your budget you won't be able to afford any lithium anything, good or bad. Keep saving your pennies or else go with a lead pack.

OK, I'll play...

1) 600 Amp controller. Likely 600 Amp peak and 300 Amp continuous. So, we need 300 Amp Continuous batteries. Thunderskies are good for 3C continuous so you need 100Ah cell minimum.
2) 72V = 24 cells. 24 cells is actually 76.8V at rest, but pulling 3C you'll see voltage sag so we'll stick with 24.
3) 76.8V * 100Ah is 7.68kWh. You get 80% of that to play with which is 6.144 kWh. You want to do 30 miles - gives you a budget of 204.8 Wh per mile. That part's up to you - can you live with 200 Wh per mile?

100Ah * 24cells * $1.75 per Ah = $4200.

Add a BMS and a charger, let's say $5,000.

Shipping extra ;-)
