Hi all
I bought an EVT 4000e 2 days ago and thus far am very impressed.
It has 14,000km on it but this was reflected in the price...
The guy who sold it to me mentioned that occasionally there is a inexplicable noise coming from from the dashboard. He siad turn off and on again and it should dissapear! Which it does for the most part. But still I'd like to know what it is. Once it's starts it seems to get louder the faster you I go - and continues even if I shout of power and the bike is still moving. Doesn't occur when idle.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ashley
There are some normal sounds which come from the dash area during normal operation -- when the battery is low. You can get the sound to shut up by power cycling the bike (turning it off then on). The sound will stay off for a moment until you hit the throttle again and the battery voltage goes low. The sounds are accompanied by some blinking lights. Together it's meant to warn that the battery voltage is low.
Is that what's happening to you?
Or is it a different kind of sound?

14'000km is rather impressive for an EVT.
is it stock?
did the previous owner do any modifications to achieve such a long service life?
are the batteries original?

I'm not sure...I haven't spent long enough with the scooter to ascertain when the noise is occurring. It's pretty loud and very unlike a warning noise. Kind of electronic, but rattling.
I'm pretty sure the bike has had at least one battery replacement during it's life. Apparently the mileage on an electric scooter doesn't really mean much - especially as the the charger, controller and tires have been recently changed.
Cheers
HI, after spending some more time with the scooter I can ascertain that it occurs even if the engine is turned off - which would suggest its mechanical?? It slows down when the bike slows down so maybe something is rubbing...occasionally the noise stops and 'threatens' to come back with intermittent buzzes!!Any ideas?
The buzzing reached an all time high yesterday - it seems it's coming from the speed monitor. The monitor is flicking around - not functioning properly!!
OK, so I unplugged the speedometer from the front wheel and voila! No buzzing! Anyone know what could be the problem? Do I need to oil it? Thanks for any help
