EFUN 2000 3000

Information on EFUN 3000 sold in many places under different names.

I purchased one a week ago and began riding it back and forth to work. So far 400Km, not miles as I was told.

Does anyone have any documentation, instruction books, etc for the bike?

The only information I have is on the site.

Also I was not aware of the lithium version so I have lead acid. It appears an upgrade is prohibitive for now.

The site lists the power as
50 Ah - 12v 5pcs VRLA
Which I assume means 5 12Volt batteries hooked in series.

http://www.efun-ev.com/

I have a 14 mile commute, very hilly I am six foot eight and weigh 300LBS

It makes it over easy, I recharge and ride it back. I have to take an alternate route back, as there is one very steep hill over 1 mile long that it stops half way up.

But all things considered I am amazed by it.

Where did you buy your E-fun D from? It is being sold by a member of this forum named DanCar here http://fun-ev.ecrater.com/product.php?pid=1490640 He may be able to give you some more documentation if you can contact him. Also, this may also be the same bike that X-treme is importing as the XM-3500li (minus the lithium of course.) X-treme's website should eventually get updated with an owner's manual and some available parts. As far as the long steep hill stopping the bike, I suspect that you are overheating the controller +/- motor causing some safety mechanism to cut power until things cool down some. You could try some things to hopefully help you make it up the hill like making sure that your tires are inflated to maximum rated sidewall pressure, riding more conservatively until reaching the hill, and trying to climb the hill as less than full throttle. Doing these things will reduce rolling resistance, conserve some extra battery power, and allow the controller to hit the hill cooler and heat up less during the climb. If you really wanted to get radical, you could come up with a forced cooling mechanism for the controller.

Something else to consider is getting a battery equalizing unit to protect your batteries from getting out of balance and failing prematurely. Sealed lead acid batteries of this size will be pretty expensive to replace (probably over $750 bucks not including shipping.) A product called the BattEQ is available. http://www.smartsparkenergy.com/products/BattEQ.aspx You will need the BEQ-LA-5-50 model which can be purchased from several vendors like http://www.staabbattery.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=staab&Product_Code=BEQ-LA-5-50&Category_Code=sma or http://www.novascooters.com/category.sc?categoryId=13 just to name a couple.

Good luck with your purchase and keep us informed of how things are going.

Re: EFUN 2000 3000

Congrats on your new bike. I've ordered a 3500 watt with lithium that I should have sometime in late June or early July. The Extreme XM-3500li is made by Mountain Chen of Xiamen Manufacturing, the brother of the manufacturer of Efun. I know that both bikes are state of the art, although I had to have the higher power and lithium battery. Where did you buy it? From Daniel Cardenas in Chandler Arizona? I considered him but his pricing seemed a little high. Let us know how things proceed. I'm very electrically challenged, but am fortunate to have this site and a good friend who services mobile wheel chairs and smaller scooters for a local dealer.
Take care!

Just to clarify - the XM-3500Li is not the same bike as the E-Fun D. The motor on the XM is bigger giving a slightly higher top speed. They are made at different factories by different companies (the owners of both companies used to work together under the name Erato but have since split and gone their own ways).

I agree with jbird and recommend you get a BattEQ equalizer. When you need to replace your batteries you might want to consider Greensaver Silicone batteries (SP27-12) from http://www.siliconebatteriesusa.com. They currently cost $500 for a set of 5 ($79 per battery plus $20 shipping per battery). Some folks hate Silicone batteries. Some folks love them.

I hope you continue to enjoy your scoot - it's great to ride electric, isn't it? :-)

Re: EFUN 2000 3000

Thanks for the clarification who the manufacturer of the XM-3500li really is. I assume Mountain Chen also makes the XM-3000 then as well.

As far as possible replacement batteries, I believe the bike will need the SP36-12 size instead of the SP27-12 which would be too small for direct replacement leading to worse performance and shorter battery life.

Yes, Mountain Chen's company makes the XM-3500Li and the XM-3000. The joint company (Erato) made the previous bike - the XM-2000.

Sorry about the mistake on the battery size - I was assuming that the EFun took the same size batteries as the smaller XM-2000 / XM-3000.

Efun D don't have Lithium version because they have no control on BMS.

Efun D use crazy heavy 50AH BB batteries which no only reduce range (30kms full speed range as reported from Dancar) ,but also big dangerous on weight balance... Take care of falling down when you turn around the corner.

Sounds like more lies/half truths to me. Keep in mind that the way Mountain reports range is at 20 miles per hour measured on a machine (dynamometer). The way I report range is pessimistic based on worse possible conditions, ie: wind, frequent stops and starts, and driving at top speed.
The li-ion bike weighs about 280 pounds, the lead-acid bike weighs 120 more pounds. It makes a difference but its not crazy. Yes we do sell li-ion bikes.

I have a customer in L.A., George, who uses for his daily commute, 20 miles one way. The other day he tried not charging it at work and it missed making it home by 8 miles. He has 2-3,000 miles (trying to recall from memory) on the bike so far without a BMS, and the cells are still balanced.

For those considering purchasing other bikes, keep in mind the consistent poor quality reports from new bikes that are introduced. As has been said:

There is a sucker born every minute.

MountainChen & DanCar -

Can you please stop bashing each others products at every possible opportunity. If you have facts to report then that would be great. However, vague inferences like "take care not to fall down" and "there's a sucker born every minute" aren't exactly helpful.

When I have my XM-3500Li (sucker that I am!) I'll gladly review it and post the good and the bad. I'd also love to do a side by side comparison with an E-Fun D (SLA or LFP) - are there any owners in, or close to, Michigan?

Re: EFUN 2000 3000

Lets face it you are trying to hawk your bikes at every opportunity.

I would be happy to test one of your bikes on my daily route. Given my size and the terrian I ride over I doubt yours would do as well.

This bike does well on hills under 25%. And appears to to meet my needs.

Re: EFUN 2000 3000

Earlier this summer I purchased a efun 300d. I like it. The bike does very well although, my top speed is only 52mph. Does anyone out there know how to increase the speed of the motor. To my understanding it uses PWM so there must a POT inside to adjust. Please let me know if anyone is familiar with this. I currently have over 1100km on the bike and I replaced all incandescent bulbs with LED's except for the headlights.

Thanks,
-Tad
