How do i tell which version of Zapino i have?

Hi folks.

I recently purchased a used Zapino. It seems to run great (though the front brake pulses a bit), however after reading about the bike here and on other sites, i've seen references to different versions and/or generations of the bike.

I'm wondering which one i have. How do i tell?

If it matters, i have the one that has (what i think is) a speed switch on the right handlebar that has two settings (I and 0).

Thanks!

Alex,

You have the 2007 version. I had both a 2007 with controller problems that I eventually exchanged for a 2008. The two are very similar. The main differences I can remember are the 2008 model had an upgraded controller (to help prevent overheating), moved the speed switch to under the seat (I like the 2007 switch location better), a pseudo anti-lock brake system (actually only pressure relief valves), a beefier rear wheel swing arm, and an improved charger that charges the battery in a more controlled fashion. I believe the motor was made by a different company also. Either way the little scooter is a lot of fun and they both have the same performance in terms of speed, etc.

You may want to check your front disc to ensure that the three bolts are tight. My rear disc was loose which caused it to pulse a little. The speed switch allows for a higher top end (40 instead of 30 mph). However it doesn't improve acceleration.

Good luck!

Great! Thanks a bunch.

Is the difference between the 2007 and 2008 the difference between the efun vs. Erider manufacturer?

I'll check the bolts on the fron brake when I can.

Do I need to be concerned about the controller? I've noticed the diagnostic light flashing, but even with one of the online manuals, I'm not able to really decipher it. It seems that the light flashes differently whether I have the throttle, brake, or nothing appied (and also whether or not the kickstand is down).

Thanks again!

I purchased a used Zappino scooter. After riding it home, I waited until I had decent helmet that fit properly to ride it again. Now I can't get the key to turn it on. The key fits, but doesn't turn. I feel like there is a trick that I am forgetting that the guy who sold it to me showed me. Any suggestions. I feel like a doofus.

did you try pushing down on the key while turning? Also, if the handlebars are locked, shift them around a bit while turning the key, it could be the handlebars are engaging the lock and making the key hard to turn.

Good Luck.
