What tire pressure for storage?

When I got a new bike, the tire pressure in both tires were higher than normal. It was higher so, that tires wouldn't get flat at long term storage. The pressure was also higher now, when I got the bike back from my dealer, but I forgot to look, how high it was.

I think they were above 3.0 bar. How high should they be? I'm going to be away for 3 weeks.

Thank you in advance!

Higher pressure is likely due to your dealer's guage reading differently than yours, or the tires were filled at a lower altitude than where you live.

There is no logical reason to overinflate tires for storage or shipment.

There is. If left parked for to long, the bottom of the tire gets flat. Over-preassuring them prevents that - it's a kind of workaround.
The correct procedure would be to raise the bike so the wheels don't touch the ground.

And when you roll it ten feet, it's round again. Does not hurt the tire, as they have no "memory". These ain't ya grandaddy's rusty steel belted truck tires. ;-)

Re: What tire pressure for storage?

The higher the pressure, the lower the rolling resistance, resulting in improved range for an EV, and improved fuel mileage for an ICE. I run 50 PSI in the LRR tires I have on my ICE car, and as high as possible (within safe limits, of course) for all EV's.

edit: Hah, I forgot to say my point. It was that maybe this shop properly inflate the tires of all of the EV's leaving their shop.
