I've noticed a couple of things with my XM-2000 that I'd like to ask you experts here about.
I'm curious about some sounds that I am hearing and am wondering what you all think. I hear a clicking sound coming from the front of the scooter. Sometimes. Not regular in tempo, but it does slow down when the scooter slows down. And sometimes there's no sound at all.
I figure it's got to be one of two things: The front disc brake, or the solenoid that switches between high and low gears. The scooter runs just fine, but the clicking bugs me.
Also, I've noticed a small amount of white powder on the body of the controller. It appears that there is a tiny hairline crack in the casing and the white powdery substance emanates from there after a long ride. I haven't opened up the casing yet for fear of losing the magic smoke. I must not lose the magic smoke!
Any ideas?

Have you contacted X-Treme's customer service about the front end noise? I would guess it's bad bearings; I've had bicycles where one of the free ball bearings would split, leaving a space between the others which would make a tick-tick sound when the wheels would turn.

Okay, well I fixed the clicking/clacking problem. Turns out it was the speedometer not having enough grease.
Here's what I did:
The wheel removal starts after loosening the bolt on the speedometer cable side of the scooter.
The bolt slides all the way out on the disk brake side.
Remove the screw from the speedometer cable and pull it out.
I found that the speedometer gear had very little grease to work with.
So I packed it with some bearing grease I bought and reassembled everything after that.
Works like a charm now. No sounds whatsoever. I still haven't cracked open the controller to see what the white residue is. I suspect it's some kind of electrical byproduct of that tiny crack being there. I might want to seal that with something.

I wouldn't worry too much about the controller, although I have no idea what would generate white powder. Maybe it's full of cocaine }:)
Most controllers have generous amounts of heatsink compound on the transistors, which is usually white, but gooey in consistency. If it leaked out, nothing bad would happen.
Just keep that smoke in there...
Thanks, Kringle! I just applied the same fix to my bike, took me 15 min and works great, clicking is gone! They should do that to every bike before they ship it out... (wishful thinking here :-))

I noticed the white powder on my XM-2000 and found it to be only the plastic covers rubbing against the controller. I simply put a washer under the cover where it screws to the frame and the white powder went away. The cover looks to be lined up better also.
Ah, that makes sense! It's right by that plastic cover. Thanks for the heads up on that one.
