Daymak Enduro - Battery fine, no power, though

Hi,

I have a Daymak Enduro. The battery if charging just fine, but I get no power from it to the throttle/lights/displyay. When it is plugged in for charging, however, the everything works fine. Is there a chance that the connection from the battery to the bike is bad?

This bike is pretty much brand new (bought last year by my 71 year-old father) but never used and passed on to me. The battery is brand new.

Thanks,

Vince

Is the battery "brand new"?--Did you just buy and install a new battery, within the last 30 days? If not, and you mean that it still has the original battery, it may be no good! Lead-acid batteries will self-destruct, by sulfation, if not kept charged.-Bob

Re: Daymak Enduro - Battery fine, no power, though

sounds like there is a bad connection or blown fuse between the pack and the controller. There really is no other explanation. If you get power and everything works fine with the charger plugged in and nothing without it... This means that the charger is supplying the bike with the 48V when it is on. The fact that it does nothing without the charger means that the bike is working fine... It is just not getting any or enough Voltage to work. You need to get out your multimeter and check for continuity or voltage while following the + lead from the pack to the controller. If that checks out ok go on to the - lead, which will probably be routed to the front of the bike through the ignition switch. The controller is getting power from the + and - leads of the charging plug. On the xb-600, unless I am mistaken, there is a blade fuse holder between the charging plug but NOT the controller. This means that if that fuse is bad the bike will not work unless the charger is plugged in. There are 2 different fuses on the xb-600, one between the pack + lead and controller, the other is in line with the - lead and ignition switch.

I am pretty sure you just have not found the blown fuse or 1 or more batteries in your pack are bad. Take them out and check them individually!!!!!!

Another place to check is open the battery box and make sure none of the wires have opened up, or there may be a fuse inside the box that is open. I have seen this before.
On a previous bike I had, had one of the wires in the battery box come apart. It had a bad crimp and was not soldered. This would give you the effect that you are observing.

Hi - thanks guys. It turned out to be a horrible weld on the battery terminals. One had let go. I replaced all the connections with thicker guage wire and bolt-on terminals.
