Daymak Enduro not going past 20km/h

Hi,

My Daymak Enduro supposedly goes max 32km/h. However, even with a full charge, it doesn't ever exceed about 19km/h. I weigh 190lbs, so I can't imagine that it's due to my weight. Any ideas why it might be so slow? The batteries charge to about 13.3v on full.

Thank,s

Vince

HOLY COW!!! Thank you!!! Sure enough, there's a little 10k capacitor on the gray wire. I took it off, and PRESTO!!! 32km/h. Now why in the h*ll would it be there, and why the h*ll wouldn't the instruction manual mention it? I was ready to get rid of this bike. I thought it was defective, or just chalked up to poor quality.

The device shown, which you removed, is NOT a "Capacitor". It is a 10,000 ohm potentiometer, or adjustable resistor. It is very likely that you could put it back, and adjust speed by turning the adjusting screw on the top of it. -Enjoy, and be careful!-Bob Curry

Ah - good to have a correction. Thanks.

But it still begs the question: Why put this somewhere where nobody would ever find it. That, and why set it at some stupid low speed from the factory without so much as a peep in the instruction manual about it?

Its a regulation doohickey. "ebikes" are restricted by law to a top speed of 20 mph (32.18kph) in most places. If one came out of the box a lil too zippy, they could "tune it down" with that part. Some places stipulate "up to 20mph, unassisted (like those pedals would help) on level ground with a rider of a weight of 170 pounds. Some dealers of some brands and or locations might be legally bound to get you to sign a waiver before releasing that info to the buyer, as its a regulatory adjustment.

I have no problem with them limiting the bike to the 20mph allowable limit, but this one was set to 11mph (19kmh)!! Ridiculous.
