How to turn off the light on a Vectrix

Hi,

not sure how much of this is malfunction - if any of it. Try at your own risk....

This procedure turns off the headlight on my Vectrix:

With the Main/Dipped Beam Switch in the LOW position, turn on the key; after boot-up pull the "Main-Beam Pass Switch" and hold; after 3sec the horn beeps once, keep holding; after another 3 sec the HIGH and LOW BEAM Telltales go out; let go of the switch. The headlight then goes out.

If you then switch the Main/Dipped Beam Switch to high beam both HIGH and LOW Beam come on, but only for a minute or so.

The rear light stays on continuously as does the front position light underneath the headlight.

This can be dangerous if you pull the "Main-Beam Pass Switch" (while the Main/Dipped Beam Switch is in the Low position) continuously for more than 6sec whilst driving in the dark, for if you let go then you have no headlight on until you flick the Main/Dipped Beam Switch to High Beam.

Turning the key to off resets it all.

Let us know if your Vectrix does this too.

The behaviour might be different with different software upgrade versions.

Mr. Mik

this worked on my 2008 model. i wonder what difference it really makes to the range though.

i wonder what difference it really makes to the range though.

I apologise for not being accurate, but it can help to approach that question:
Average range 60 km, 70%-80% useful capacity of 3750wh =2800wh ---> 46w/km consumption.
the front light consumes 35w/h;
If you ride an 1h trip, you'll get 0,75 km more.
if you ride in the city during 2 hours, you save 70 w/h and get 1,5 km more.

It may not seem a long extra range, but believe me: when you ride your empty vectrix, slowly crawling towards a far away home, you'll think about that possible saved range... It can make the difference...

That's all I want to know! Thanks.

When you put it like that, riding during the day without the headlight makes some sense if you are on the ragged edge of empty!

Re: How to turn off the light on a Vectrix

i always even on few mile trip always knock the main dip light off as to save energy and save the bulb
and think that the led light is a life saver why oh why do we have this new software that has the indicator reminder changed to 20 seconds from 15 seconds????????????????
its like the lord give................... uth led lights but the lord take ......uth
i have come up with an ideal solution reminder for indicators 10 seconds delay also change the green light directional indicator to ultra bright leds green of corse
this would stop any confusion and probbley save the odd life oh and mybe people would buy more vectrix es??

Re: Vectrix Test Ride in the Real World at 40km/h

Hi,
having had the Vectrix Maxi for two weeks now, I decided to do a Range Test at 40km/h.
...
...
I chose a stretch of road without traffic lights and a time with very little traffic - Dec 25th, 2007.

Click this link for a map of the "Test Course":

You get a better version of the pictures below if you click on the link above and then view it in Google earth.
.

Google_Earth_Map_saved.jpg

The road winds gently uphill with a few shorter downhill stretches, probably rising about 200-300m from the start to the turnaround point on the border to NSW.

2nd_map_saved.jpg

The weather was 24deg C, cloudy, a bit of drizzle at times, light to moderate wind from the south and it did not change during the test ride.

So I was starting off going uphill and against the wind, assuming that I should easily make it back to the starting point if I turned around once the battery was half empty.
...
...
...

Mr Mik

Well, I'd probably call it moderately up hill now, looking at the profile created with a Google Maps add-on tool ( http://www.topocoding.com/ ):

Re: Vectrix Real World Mountain Climbing Test Report

I have found the hill - or rather mountain - that took my Vectrix to the limit.

I did not publish this report earlier because I wanted to avoid further bad publicity for Vectrix and because I wanted to get Vectrix' advice on this problem first.

Now it has become imperative to publish this because I have a suspicion that the multi-function-throttle is causing the problem, and another Vectrix driver has had a potentially lethal throttle problem.

Funontwowheels = George wrote:

1. Throttle sticking, difficulty engaging reverse had to replace the sensor.

2. Was given a charger software update, after which the charger promptly blew, however got a prompt repair and new charger which seemed to work okay.

3. Nearly KILLED my self when the throttle stuck in the fully open position, only remembered about the kill switch at the last minute ... a frightening experience. I managed to affect repair by resetting the throttle sensor, however I now feel VERY APPREHESIVE when riding my Vectrix, in case the same thing happens again.

4. Battery and temperature warning lights now flashing all the time, indicating a problem with battery temperature sensors, have been unable to use bike for weeks. I am currently waiting for the bike to be uplifted and repaired and to take delivery of a loan bike. Have missed a couple of opportunities to exhibit the bike because of this and potentially lost sales.

See at http://visforvoltage.org/forum/2206-vectrix-owners-new-amp-prospective for details.

Here is the terrain profile of this road up Mt Tambourine:
VGCTR3

Pretty tough indeed (and all in hot Aussi weather, of course!)

Re: Vectrix Real World Top Speed Test

Hi,

here is a test report of my Vectrix' Top Speed.

.

I am not keen to take photos whilst riding, you just have to trust me on the speed reports.

.

I assume the speed as indicated by the instrument panel of the Vectrix is correct; it appears to be correct when I compare it to the speed of the other traffic.
.
The test course is a stretch of the M1, click the link below to see the map:

test course

Viewing it in Google Earth gives you an even better idea of the terrain.

....
....

Here is a terrain profile showing how steep the incline is.
VGCTR2 complete
The ability to accelerate briskly to 100km/h onto this highway will be the hardest part of the Vectrix performance to beat by any up- and coming contenders. It really shines under these conditions (but only if you do not need to go any faster than 100km/h).
