Thanks. Any specific guidance on where to aim the well aimed screwdriver would be appreciated as it's quite hard to study the mechanism when the boot is locked shut. I have searched before posting, hence the post!

Re: had to happen :(

I have done that too. Now first thing I do is take out any lock and make sure I get a dozen keys made and some times do a single cut so I can write on key for what scooter it is for. My lock is frozen on XM-3000 and still wont open and I twisted key off in ignition and I will cut open cable to release lock. Now I am looking for alternate ways to open seat areas. Cables to seem to rust or freeze up a lot. Can you remove any plastic pieces to get to lock mechanism? PS most of keys seem to fit Kawasaki motorcycles.
Except for the Vectrix and that is some sort of Italy key of which I got a half dozen spares. See VisforVoltage about spare keys for VX-1

Re: had to happen :(

Not to panic!!! One can open the boot/trunk/underseat compartmrnt if the keys get locked inside. However, as this is a 'public' forum I don't feel comfortable in telling the world how to gain access. I will howver send 12lee the info and let him retrieve his keys. I trust the rest of you can respect this as who wants to lose a helmet or anything else because the thieves know how to get in there!!!

I'll send you the private message shortly!

Cheers!

I did it when I first got my bike - luckily my son was able to drive to my workplace with the spare key ;-)

Hi Doug

Many thanks for the PM - much appreciated. I used another method that I'll also be happy to PM to anyone that needs it. Just needed some lateral thinking.... :)
