Europe e-Scooter Registration

Hii,

I will buy some e-scooters from (Mujin)Montain Chen (He is selling with ERATO Brand name http://erato.en.ec21.com/).
Do you know If I will get the legal registration of the vehicle in Europe easy?
He told me that the bikes has EEC European homolgation and it will be easy to regfister.
Had someone already buy this e-scooters from him.

Do you think he is a person to trust?

Thanks,
Eduardo.
Portugal, Europe.

Welcome to The V is for Voltage Community, I chat with him often, but have never done any business with him.
Just by the amount of sales he makes in the USA, I would tend to say he's probally trust worthy.
I do know one Lady that had a problem with him, but it had to do with a Container order. I can send you her email, but I can already tell you she won't say anything nice about him.
What are you buying the 2500 Watt Cowboy or the 3000 Watt?

Peace Out,
Gman

Eduardo,

Which Erato model? I don't think they are fully approved with the EU, the XM-2000 definitely is not.

You can email me on Anrirua [at] gmail.com if you like

Re: Europe e-Scooter Registration

Hii,
Thanks to all your posts.
The model I will buy is the 1500W motor. He told me he already has EEC homolgation paper and COC.
He told me that it would be easy to register this scooter in Europe.
I'm worry only about the registration and legalization. Because without legalization the scooter is useless in Portugal, I cannot ride in the roads.
redking73 I will send you a email about my needs.
The problem because I dodn't chose the emax models, is that they are expensive. the cheapest is around 10000$USD.
This is mutch like a car price.
I only want to spend around USD$1000 and get a electric scooter to get to work every days.

Thanks all, your questions.

Re: Europe e-Scooter Registration

Hi Eduardo,

Mountain Chen (Mujin) is completely untrustworthy. I had shared some e-mails regarding my experience with Chen so it wasn't my word against his. It was our actual correspondence.

He was willing to sell to me when he had already had an exclusivity agreement for this territory with another person. He had accepted my order and my money and was making plans to ship. When I found out about the exclusivity agreement, I called off the order but he would not return my money. I wrote to the website Made-in-China who actually did a great job of trying to contact Chen and then immediately removing him from their website because he refused to respond and try to work through the matter. When they removed Chen's site he became threatening and rude in his e-mails to me. He never did pay me back the money he owed me. The person who had the exclusivity agreement with Chen had to apply part of the money Chen owed me to another order he already had with Chen. Chen said he could not return my money directly to me due to some politics in China. Funny because before I sent the money to Chen he assured me that if I didn't like the product or if there was a problem there would be a refund with no problem. If it hadn't been for the other party here, I would never have received a dime of the money sent to Chen. Chen still owes me the balance but I have no faith that I will ever see it.

I had the opportunity to view some of the products that arrived for the other party. Their order had some product problems. The 500 and 1500 watt scooters didn't do so well with this particular topography (hilly in some areas). Struggled with a 15% grade uphill before burning out literally. Coasting downhill proved to be no bargain either. The rider was a 140lb male and he thought the vehicle was going to rattle apart with all the vibrating it did. The greatest distance traveled with one of the vehicles was 7 km before it broke down. Chen was contacted about the motor and battery problems. He said it was because they were the older models. The people had just placed that order so why were they sent "older models". He said he would send them A (as in one) replacement part in their next order to identify if whatever that part was, was the problem or not.

It was said that the quads were not so bad. Still really shoddy workmanship I guess as some of the parts fell off of both the scooters and quads but the material is plastic and I guess that's kind of expected. They had a woman test drive in her shop and she nearly crashed into her window because the magnetic throttle system failed. It stuck or something. That was on the 600 watt quad. I have NOTHING good to say about Chen but these are not my words regarding the quality. These are the words of one of the guys who is actually stuck with the vehicles.

Mountain Mujin Chen is a liar and a thief.

Re: Europe e-Scooter Registration

I would also be a bit careful of Mountain. I have ordered samples from him (and know another who has ordered samples from him who had a similar experience) to first test them before I was to order a larger batch as normally the manufacturers specs (especially from China) are suspect. First he sent me motorbikes with different specs to the ones I had requested ( for example the 2000W I ordered was a 1500W when it it arrived) . A battery pack failed within a week (actually it never worked) and a charger also never worked. Mountain would not replace the charger or batteries even if I paid to get them shipped out.

He also really ducks and dives responsibilities and one can never pin him down, just to find out how he can send the wrong order through, as well as not prepared to rectify faults. Something similar happened to another guy I know in Europe who wanted to import them.
When I first corresponded with him he was very attentive, but really changed a lot when I mentioned that I could not have faith in his company if I cannot test samples properly.

As a result I will not order large quantities - my feeling is if he will not rectify his mistakes, then what happens if I order a container and he sends me different stock to what I ordered and then does not back up his warraties. My second motorbike also does not get close to the range they are supposed to get and I would be to nervous to sell them to customers, mainly because I am not to sure even he is in control of his batteries as well as well as not being to sure if he would really warrenty his motorbikes.

Its a pity as I liked the bikes, just to many small things wrong and a slippery Mountain does not help

OK,

Thanks for all your answers.
I'm clear now Montain Chen is a waste of time and waste of money.

You don't need to send me more opinions about this, I'm clear now.

Thanks.
