XM3000 adjusting the brake kill switch

I've received a replacement XM3000 scooter from X-treme Scooters. Turning on the scooter I appear to have full voltage (all lights, horn, etc work) but the scooter won't budge. Reading the manual I noticed that the troubleshooting guide suggests checking brake lights and kick stand. Checking other troubleshooting memos online it appears that the brake kill switch might need adjustment (loosening?). The trouble is there's no clear description of exactly where and how to make that adjustment. Can someone point me in the right direction? Also I'm assuming that the red diagnosis light which lights up on the instrument panel is simply indicating electrical circuits "on". Is that all it's doing? Thanks in advance....

Re: XM3000 adjusting the brake kill switch

I never could get the RED light to come on , on the dash. I found out after nearly a month of testing my front brake kept me from moving forward like the kick stand switch. I finally figured it out by lifting front end and dropping it a few times and then the biked moved till I hit the front brakes and finally it dawned on me. It was a week later my controller died and when I got my new one I disconnected the micro switch wires. Or jumped it out I forget. Now I got my thousand miles on bike and still going strong actually stronger with a new 15 Amp charger. It would sure help if X-Treme would include an up to date schematic of wiring or color code of wiring. I just have to be careful about not twisting throttle and squeezing front from to drawing excess current.
Good mention of a common problem!!!!

Rusty, please pardon my ignorance. I'm having the same problem with the "red light" (diagnosis) on the dash. Although I've read your reply several times, I am unable to understand what the light means and what I need to do to correct the issue. Please help. Thanks so much, Carmen

Re: XM3000 adjusting the brake kill switch

After removing head light assembly to get to most of the wires, I noticed the red light (LED) is not connected to any thing else. It does appear to come on at noon time riding to store every day though. Sun light gets into LED some how and makes it appear to come on. there is a micro switch on the front right brake which kept me me from moving or going forward. After banging it "the bike" on the road a few times and giving it gas " electric" it took off till next stop light or sign. So that is why I disconnected front brake light switch ~ micro switch. I am going to re-wire light so I can have no lights high or low beam just goofy daytime running light and when lights are on both low beam will be on instead of one and both high beams will be on or off if I want. I am on my third DC-DC converter and getting frustrated about that now. I am on my second motor speed controller on this scooter I am NOW using. I still cant get my first ever XM-3000 running for everything on it is dead. Motor seems to be open and converter died on my way home first day and controller blew the back off of itself. So what is left is parts bike rusting out back. Some on in China is selling converters on eBay for 35 bucks and I figure I might just stock up on them. That is MAJOR failure item!!!
Again RED diagnostic light seems to be NOT connected and if it was, I don't know where it goes. As far as battery gauge goes I have Meter vs LED on my XM-3000. LEDs are useless on my XM-3100 for battery meter. It gets wiped by sunlight. I might wire up RED diagnostic LED to show that controller is in disable mode though. You can not go forward while stepping on rear brake. Controller is disabled that goodness. In that mode.
It is not your ignorance, I just don't type what I mean to say most thymes? Hey feel free to call me any time. By now I feel like I am almost am an expert. An ex is a has-been and a spurt is a drip under pressure.

Thanks so much! And, yep, I'll probably bother you again :) The company was little to no help.

Replies were helpful, but is there a 15 amp charger for XM3000

I've got the scooter going just fine. Thanks for all of your help. Unfortunately I'm going to have to repair/replace the 60 Volt / 5 amp charger as it was knocked off its platform and has stopped working! But one of you has mentioned a 15 amp charger that sounds like it would charge up the XM3000 pretty fast. Is it safe to use with this scooter? How fast does it charge the batteries? Does that kind of "quick charger" shorten their life? Hope to hear from you...

Re: XM3000 adjusting the brake kill switch

I got my first 12 Amp charger from Serena in China and it worked fine, no I mean it worked GREAT. It charges in 2 to 3 hours and batteries don't get hot. It even does perfect on CSB EVX-12200 20 Amp Hour battery pack. Now that pack is smaller and charges in one hour or less. Her price is sample price of a buck plus 60 for shipping. Still cheaper than the buck and a half eXtreme wants for their charger. Send me email and I can send you her email address. I think it is on V some where too. I also got a more expensive charger of the 12 to 15 amp class from China for $250.00 USD and it has built in Amp and Volt meters. Really spiffy little puppy. Both I ordered 110/ 220 volt input for an extra ten bucks. The only thing is Serena does bank wire and the other guy does Pp for charger paying which is a lot easier. It is so nice coming back home on scooter charging for an hour and be able to go again. well worth the time and expense of up grade. Oh BTW the Anderson connector makes for quicker connection and more SURE connection. If you do any welding or grinding 60 volts makes it great for sanding with 4" sanding wheels on 120 volt AC grinder!
Nice smooth slow speed is perfect.
