Front Cowl repair and use update

I removed my front plastic cowl so many times on my Zapino scooter that all the plastic bolts hole are warn through and the thing was falling apart over every bump I went over. To fix I purchased 2 giant zip ties (Ace Hardware) that I now use to wrap around both sides of the top cowl on either side of the handle bars/headlight area. It seems to really work well, but will have to replace when I need to open things up again.

BTW I am on my third season (summer only here in Maine) on the scooter using full throttle (43 MPH) to work 17 miles, then charge at work and go home 17 miles. I think I have 4300 kilometers on it. So if you use the federal rate of payback, I think I have completed the original cost to purchase and am now in the "saving money" phase of ownership. I also charge at home off of a rooftop solar array. Still is a really nice scooter except for poor quality parts.

Even got some good footage on local TV: http://www.paulweiss.bz/Channel%206%20NBC%20small3.wmv

Two full seasons on the pack! Fingers crossed for the third....

I'm sure the factory never thought it would get used that hard. Perhaps you can install Dzus quick-release fasteners, though zip-ties are probably cheaper...

Great Plug Paul! I am on my second season on the original pack with about 3K Kilometers, and have not had any reduction in range. I bank charge at work (15 mile commute), and string charge at home. So far, so good!
