John,
Have any news for us regarding your company? I'm also curious if anybody who had purchased one could comment on their experience. It seems like on paper/web you have a great product and I would be very interested should my Vectrix randomly die :) Thanks.
Adam
Hi Adam,
We were beset by delays (here's where folks can chime in and say "i told you so"). Mostly in the electronics package (BMS and BCU). But things are progressing.
However, the GOOD NEWS is that we shipped our first bike on Thursday and it should be arriving at the owner's home around about now (or maybe tomorrow - depending on the gods of shipping). Our first owner is a forum member - and I'll let him post when he's ready.
We're going to see how the dust settles with this first bike before we crank out the remaining ones for our pre-orders. After that we'll start making them for stock for the spring selling season.
All the best. John H.

The shipping gods have not been kind, delivery is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. I blame Poseidon, he's always been kinda fickle.
Yea, I'm the first customer to get a CuMoCo bike, and a C130 is currently sitting at a freight warehouse somewhere nearby.
I'll be posting pics, first impressions, complaints, and thoughts as soon as I actually have a bike in hand. I've agreed to be a Beta tester, or perhaps this is a Customer Acceptance Test. So my bike is 'mostly' complete, with a few known issues, and a few items that aren't quite finished. Winter won't keep me from riding, so we'll get some customer miles on this bike shortly, and that should help John get to a final bike shortly.

I thought I'd resurrect this thread and use it as a news deposit. (I'll continue to post my experiences as a tester in the other thread.)
The Current Motor Company website was rebuilt a month or so ago, and there's new content appearing from time to time:
An article about the chief engineer Erik K: http://www.currentmotor.com/meet-founder-erik-kauppi/
A discussion of how the suspension was tuned: http://www.currentmotor.com/shocking/
Also a news item about the company president (Peter Scott) talking to potential investors: XConomy.com
And another news blurb (now firewalled) from a Detroit business site: http://www.currentmotor.com/chaaarge/
Also, for those of you on Facebook, there's a Current Motor Company page there, and you should all become fans immediately.
So, while I've got nothing new to report about my first CuMoCo bike (at least not this week), it does appear that the company is growing up a bit.

Another website update, this time it's a profile/interview with our friend John H:

Two more interviews with CuMoCo people are up:

President Peter Scott

A brief update:
1) We're starting to deliver bikes to a few other customers. Still low numbers as we fine tune production and mostly not the C130 - although we are going to ship at least two more of these. One lucky recipient is a regular here at the forum.
2) The owner of Kelly Controls is visiting us this week. I haven't met Steven yet (he's been meeting with Erik) but will be seeing him tomorrow. We're having a good experience working with Kelly.
3) Our shop doesn't have air-conditioning. Good for the environment. Bad for the inhabitants.
4) We'll be at Detroit Maker Faire this weekend and I'm giving a 5 minute "Ignite" talk entitled "How to build an electric motorcycle in 5 minutes" on Saturday evening.
5) Progress is progressing
That's it. (told you it was a brief update!)

John, I see you beat me to it! Well I will be getting MY C130 in the near future (couple o weeks) and am looking forward to putting it threw its paces ! I plan on registering it as a motorcycle and will get a real title and plates! Now I have to learn how to drive like a biker ! Ha HA LaTeR
thank GOD I wake up above ground !!!!
Which model is the C130? The website does refer to them as such, just "city", "deluxe", etc.
Also, maybe a bit nit-picking, but based on my experience, you should really use 3 volts per cell for the advertised voltages, not 3.2. The voltage will certainly go at least as low as 3.0 volts under a load.
C130 is the deluxe (C1x model 30 cells).
