PB-6 pot box

Hi!

I got a PB-6 pot box, and I dont know what to do with these 3 connectors.

The pot box looks like this
PB-6

Can anybody explain what each connector is for and what it does? And where should this be connected to?
Can the motor controller work even without connecting these 3 connectors/terminals?

Please help

Re: PB-6 pot box

Looks like it is to control the THROTTLE of your vehicle, with a mechanical throttle cable connected to the lever. The 3 wires would connect to the throttle terminals of your controller. (If using a different, electronic throttle, this unit would not be needed)--Bob

Re: PB-6 pot box

Hi, that pot box is a variable resister . you need a cheap multimeter. Set it to measure ohm's (the sign looks like a horse shoe draining the luck out) test the wires!,First, two wires should read 5000 ohms! mark them 1 and 3,Then find the two wires that read the smallest with the lever at rest , then move the lever to full on, and test again, one wire will change as the lever is moved! that wire is the no.2 (signal)!! the 1 or 3 wire that reads a low number to No.2 when the lever is at rest is the ground ! the other wire is for the hot!!! then test the controllers(for Voltage,5v?) three wire throttle input and find the ground and hot. The wire that doesn't read is the signal !!! I hope this helps you LaTeR

thank GOD I wake up above ground !!!!

Re: PB-6 pot box

thanks strawhistle!
When testing the motor controller, should this be connected to the batteries?
I have not yet bought any batteries though but I do have the charger.

here are pictures of the actual units
the PB-6 pot box and the motor controller

the motor controller is a China unit and they're not really too good at giving instructions.
So maybe you guys with your experiences can help me here.

It does look simpler than the other motor controllers I saw around the internet.

Basically there's a B-, B+ and M-

then there is an 8 pin connector but the socket that fits in it only has 3 wires. this I'm not too sure about.
So would this mean a few out of the 8 pins are not working? Maybe just 3 or more?

Re: PB-6 pot box

Thanks for the pics, the wires in the pic of the controller red yellow and blue, are the throttle control red is (probably) the hot + , the blue is (Probably) the ground , and the yellow is signal. I only see two wires from the throttle ?? it is best to test just to be sure not to connect it backwards LaTeR

Re: PB-6 pot box

what do you mean by "hot +"
Can you please explain? Thanks for your time, btw.

2 wires from the throttle.....isn't it really supposed to be 2 wires? or do other POT boxes have 3 wires?

What is this microswitch for? Can I run the controller without using this microswitch?
I think thumb throttle POT boxes dont have this.

I actually also have a Hall effect throttle but I'll just try this PB-6 first
