I just purchased a very nice Charger Electric bike. It is in near mint condition. I am trying to get the electrics to work on this bike and noticed that it has a PIN code. I read on the forum that the factory reset is 1-1-1-1. I tried this and it did not work. I charged the battery pack for about 3 hours and the #4 LED lights up. When I remove it from power, the unit does a little light sequence thing. I pushed the #1 and it stayed lit for a moment and then shut down, and i could hear a small clicking noise. The bike itself is almost like new. The electronics look to be like new, no cracks or evidence of damage anywhere. I rode the bike without electrics and everything is top-notch. I am guessing that either I need to find a way to reset the pin code, get some instructions, and possibly change out the batteries. I have read that they are lead acid gel-cells, so this should be easy.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Sam Wonderly is the man to contact for help with the PIN. IIRC the PIN on mine was 1-1-1-1 but as it said in that thread, my Charger is no longer stock so I cannot help you other than to say to go to Sam.

It is a gorgeous bicycle. Absolutely perfect, except for the electrics. I am sure that with this set-up, I can get it turned into a proper electric bicycle and may mod it with Lithium batteries a new controller and a proper throttle and get it all in that casing. If I can just get it to work, that will save me some $ and be fun too. Here is a picture of that bike. I got it today, so this thing is pretty fresh with me.
I will contact that person and see if I can get any advice.

I've taken the journey you say you're looking into doing. Take a look at the post I linked up to get an insight into what I did. I can't quite recommend what I ended up with as it's rather hacky. It does work, FWIW
The thing is the bike is designed as a pedelec. Soon as you change out the controller for one with a throttle, running the controller makes the pedals spin; because of the way everything is connected. What's needed is a method where the motor can spin and the pedals freewheel.
I understand from Sam that he did develop a method to do this which isn't hacky.

I have sent an email to Sam and hope he responds. Otherwise, this bike will end up getting a major rebuild my way. Did you think of installing a freewheeling crank up front to handle that spinning under power, or did you just get used to it and consider it part of the exercise plan? Do you know what the motor input is and what is the battery configuration? It seems like it would be easy to upgrade with some more modern batteries a charge controller and a throttle controller and just eliminate the pedelec circuitry. It would be neat to use the same connectors and make it so that batter pack can be removed for charging. I work only 1.2 miles from my home, so this could be a great way to go. Let me know how you approached this and post any pictures you may have. I would love to rekindle interest in this conversion. It seems like a no brainer. Motor is already mounted, advanced drive-train, solid bike and a good housing module for the electrics.
