Service Manual needed for Lepton Oxygen Scooter

I've got a Lepton Oxygen Scooter,
Which seems to make a better brick than a reliable form of transportation.

But I keep hoping that it is not an expensive paperweight.

I just put in a new battery pack and got about 50Km out of it before getting an over heat error.

Now it is locked in an error code 5 and I'm not sure what to do.

Need a service manual before I can move forward.

Thanks Michael
If anyone has a PDF of the service manual I would love to get a copy.

Re: Service Manual needed for Lepton Oxygen Scooter

Boobla, for you, ANYTHING!!!! (Who are you, by the way?)

Seriously, it's on the way, I'll have it uploading as soon as I'm done here. And here's another Lepton manual you might be wanting, the owners manual.

http://www.greenspeed.us/graphics/oxygen/oxygen_manual.pdf

The service manual isn't that good, it's like assembly instructions; it doesn't tell me how to run diagnostic on my dormant Lepton that has no error codes but won't go. I do find the error code 5 refers to high or low motor temperature. It suggests that in addition to high or low temperature causing the problem, you could have a break in the temperature sensor wiring on the motor, the sensor itself might be broken, (Especially if it got so hot) or that you could have a security card or controller problem. It says an error code is a permanent failure, so no hope of it just resetting. And I'm not finding the heat sensor identified in the exploded diagram.

Good luck.

Got the service manual. PDF Format, via email
Thanks ever so much. I've not had much luck with the lepton's my first scooter was a cheap china made scooter that I loved. When it was stolen I moved up to the Lepton Oxygen, lots more power was a plus but all the error checking ment that i spent a lot of time in the rain on my back wiggling conections and futzing around.

Also I do not like the placement of the drive motor tucked up tight in the bowls of the machine where it can not get any air flow. Not good. Also the overheat sensor is set to birck mode. Triggers once the motor has melted, unless it is a fusable link. Not sure until I can pull it apart.

I do not like that I've found it very difficult to find any relivant information on this scooter.

Next one will be a cheep scooter from china again.

By the way, I am Michael from Sacramento CA.

Thanks
Michael

Sorry you are having trouble. I've never seen a "error 5" message on mine nor have I had overheating issues. Maybe there is damage as was suggested and until it is fixed the error code can't be reset.

Re: Service Manual needed for Lepton Oxygen Scooter

Hello,

I'm in the UK and have had an Oxygen Cargo (very similar) for nearly three years, and it's still going well, although the batteries are a bit tired, and I get only about 10 miles from a charge.

However, I'm hoping I can find either a service manual (links here don't seem to work) or info on front fork oil and seals. At present the front wheel is off and I have the forks in bits. One leg was completely dry (which was why it seized over the winter!) and the other had only a small amount of oil.

Can anyone help re oil type and quantity? Also, are the fork seals available?

Many thanks,

Malcolm

Re: Service Manual needed for Lepton Oxygen Scooter

I've had my Lepton for 9 years, and have had so little trouble with it that I just now read the whole manual - skimmed it, really - to see about the fork oil. No listing for it, I'm afraid, just the rear gear reduction oil. This "service manual" isn't nearly as helpful as it should be, but I'll be happy to share the PDF. Just email me at leftiebikerATgmail.com. (replace the word "at" with the symbol - this forum is searchable and I don't want more spam.} The manual I have is for the later models with built-in charger, but most of it applies to the early SLA version as well.

Oh, and Error #5 is an overheat shutdown code. It should have been preceded by an "alarm 4" and if just letting the scooter cool and then restarting it won't clear the code, it needs dealer help, which means finding a dealer who used to service these scooters. Try NYCEWheels in NYC.

Re: Service Manual needed for Lepton Oxygen Scooter

Hello,

Many thanks for your reply. I sourced a similar manual from Queensland, who kindly e-mailed it through all the way from Alaska!

I agree about the helpfulness of the manual. I got some guidance from a fellow-owner in the UK in the end regarding type and quantity of oil, and all now works fine. My machine isn't a Lepton, but is similar, with a built-in charger. Mine is described simply as an Oxygen Cargo and is the model for pizza delivery, with a huge insulated topbox. You can get lots of shopping and the odd dead donkey in it.

My main problem is tired batteries (about 6 miles range) and no hope of buying any more, as nickel-zincs are extinct. However, it's ideal for my usage, which is around town.

Oxygen does not exist any more, nor Lepton scooters dealers!
My Lepton does not start,it stays in STDBY, how do I unlock/fix it? How do I reset the controller?
No error codes apart from red light blinking on the dashboard.
