36 to 42 volt conversion

I know this has probably been done or talked about but can I use (7) 6v batts instead of (3) 12volts to raise my voltage on my 36v scooter to get a little more power out of it. The weight of the 6volts wouldn't be too much more and I have the room. I think the controller and motor would be ok too any Input??

Yes its been tried and u can do it.
you can keep the 3 x 12v batts and add a single 6v- (doesnt have to be 7 x 6v)
You can buy a single 6v SLA from Maplins, (get the same Amphours capacity on that extra batt), and need to buy a 6v charger

Well I added 3.3v with one Headway Lifepo4 cell and got 3miles an hour extra
with 2 cells about 5miles an hour more!

To be honest though if you havent got any batteries at the moment just get a 36v Ping Lithium Pack, they actually run at about 40volts so you will get better performance, lower weight and less voltage sag with that, rather than adding extra cells to already heavy Lead Acid Batteries.

What model scooter is it? and how does it not have any batts right now?

I see poster JHW52 is selling a 36v Lithium pack on here for $160, thats probably same cost as Lead Acid

Yeah that is cheap! Its a Embi I was told when I first got it that it was a 48 volt but its not its a 36 but I got it extremely cheap and it works perfect just haven't bought batts for it yet cause its an extra.
