I have had my 4000Li for four months and have just over 1800 miles on it. Yesterday I tested the range limit and was able to cover 45 miles on the odometer on a single charge. I weigh 225 and had a passenger on the back. City driving, so a lot of stop and go. 90 degrees in Phx AZ. Some hill climing, and speeds varying between 20 and 40.
I felt 45 miles was pretty good all things considered. The red light was not flashing as I pulled into the garage, so I could conceivably have gotten another 5 miles out of it, but I hate the idea of over stressing the batteries. Is the low voltage cutoff pretty reliable on these? My hub motor felt hotter than 125 degrees F, so I am still wondering when it will hit that magic overheat cutoff number and shut down, but it hasn't yet. Has anyone else seen the hub motor shut down due to overheat? We have many 110 degree days coming this summer in Phoenix. Thank you!

Just looking at the 4000 owners manual online it looks like the spedo reads in MPH but the odometer reads in Kilometers. I have Epeds old 3500Li with the same batteries and an actual mileage of 2500 and still get an honest, checked with gps 30 miles and then the meter drops under heavy acceleration. That shows on the odometer as 60 Km but the spedo is off on the 3500s so that 2 Km is really a mile. You might check for sure before you MapQuest a trip over 30 mi. I hope you are right about the 45 miles but that is more like what the bikes with the 60 AH packs are reporting.

I'm absolutely positive my odomter reads in miles and is correct. It is exactly 3.6 miles to work, verified by GPS and my car odometer, and when I reach work, the 4000li says it has travelled exactly 3.6 miles.
I have no doubt that she is travelling 45 miles on a charge. But again, I have only had her for 4 months, and 1860 miles. Will she still do 45 miles a year from now is my big question....

Yes you are right about the odometer ! That is great mileage. Possibly the difference is that it's 90 where you are and only 60 here in Oregon and my batteries are 3 years old with more miles. Thanks for the information. This gives me an idea of what the range of my scooter probably was when the batteries were new.

For anyone interested, I tested my 4000Li range yesterday without a passenger and was able to travel 47.6 miles on a single charge. The trip included considerable hill climbing, very little stop and go, and speeds between 20 and 35. She probaby would have gone another couple miles, as the red light was not yet blinking, but the voltage gauge was reading almost red even at 20 mph, so I called it quits and plugged her in.
45 miles with passenger. 47.6 without. Consensus....passenger weight doesn't seem to make very much difference.
One more update. My 47.6 mile range was not on the economy setting. Does anyone know if it is true that setting the economy mode to 1 or 2 will reduce the amps sent to the motor, thereby extending range and reducing motor heat?
I will next test my range with economy mode on for the entire duration and will report that for those who are interested.

I have the 3500 which I think works the same way as the 4000.
The economy mode just affects the throttle input to the controller. For example if the scooter goes 25 mph max in economy it is the same as just holding the throttle at 25 mph in regular mode. It just limits the throttle. So it does reduce the max amps you can draw on acceleration and hills by reducing the max speed. It also reduces the quickness of the throttle response so you can maneuver more easily in parking lots and at slow speeds. It's also good if you are running your batteries too low as it limits the max amps.
Try to resist the desire to test the max range very often as it can only shorten the life of the cells. Find the max range and then reduce it by 5 miles and use that as your max range to be safe.

try to use the economy speed as much as you can. i have a xm-3500li but the right fairing headlight is broken and unfortunately this model was discontinue. if anyone knows where i can find it, please let me know. I am willing to pay for this piece.
hello i also have a xm-3500li but the right fairing headlight was missing in it. I called Green Max Distributor but this model was discontinued. i also purchased a the 5000 fairing, however, it is not the same. if you know where i can get one, let me know please thanksss.
I just googled " Chinese 150 scooter headlight assembly " and came up with this similar scooter to my XM 3500 Li. Not really sure what the assembly is like because I have never had it out but try this link or google it yourself and sift through all the websites.
