clockwise rotation?

Hi Guys...

I have an exotic Italian '02 VOR 450 dirtbike, street legal, with a spent motor. VOR went out of business some years ago, and there is noway to repair this engine, so
I am now in the planning stages of converting this bike into an electric commuter.
My question is that most of the conversions I see are done on Japanese bikes that have the drive chain on the left hand side, but this Italian bike is on the right hand side.
Can anyone tell me if all electric motors can be run in either direction?
If not... any suggestions of what motor to use?? I am planning on a 72 V system.

Thanks!

Re: clockwise rotation?

What would keep you from flipping the back wheel so the gear is on the left side; you would probably have to change the chain guide/tensioner anyways when you add a electric motor????

The aluminum swing arm would have to be welded and machined to switch the brakes over as well as the chain guides... There has to be a DC motor that can operate in either direction.

Re: clockwise rotation?

While waiting for a useful reply - check out this extremely detailed custom motorcycle build. Might be something helpful in there:

I wish I had that LCD monitor for my pack; shows cell by cell stats.

Good luck
