Two months ago I placed an order for a J1772 to NEMA 14-50 adapter box. At $250ish I thought it was a better deal than me spending time learning the details necessary to build it, because the cost of the whole adapter box is close enough to the cost of the J1772 socket that the added cost was worth it to save some of my time. The adapter box is meant to go in my Karmann Ghia as I noted on another thread (http://visforvoltage.org/forum/11300-using-avcon-style-public-charger).
In any case I ordered the thing over two months ago - they charged my credit card - I have heard nothing from them - no indication if if/when/ever it would be shipped - I sent an email a month ago asking what's up - sent another email yesterday, and another one today - then did some yahoogling and found a discussion thread on diyelectriccars suggesting that others are having trouble with Current EV Tech because it sounds like Dave Kois is swamped or something.
In a way I don't care if he (Dave Kois) has a valid excuse - he's in business, which means he has a job to ship stuff the customers have ordered. No excuses are valid.
This puts me in the position of using the forum to air complaints against a vendor ..etc.. which could be seen as trying to get some leverage against the vendor. I promise that however this comes out I'll report back on the results. I really hope he comes through with this, because he's supposed to be one of the good guys.
If that doesn't work out, try: http://modularevpower.com/

To update - I got no response from Current EV Tech and yesterday called my credit card company. They've initiated a charge dispute procedure and there'll be a refund show up on my card depending on the results of this. I suppose they'll have a bigger stick with which to threaten Current EV Tech than I do.
Later in the week I'll be looking at Modular EV Power. I'd seen them before but had assumed Current EV Tech was..uh.. I'm not sure why I chose Current EV Tech over Modular in the first place. I recall having sent an email to Modular asking a question and not getting an answer.
