My progressive yearly insurance was only $65 when I first got it in 2008, but they've been raising the premium $5 every year. Here's what I currently get for $75/yr:
BODILY INJURY & PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY
BI $100,000 EACH PERSON - $300,000 EACH ACCIDENT
PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY - $50,000 EACH ACCIDENT
UNDERINSURED MOTORIST
$50,000 EACH PERSON - $100,000 EACH ACCIDENT
UIM PROPERTY DAMAGE $25,000 LESS $100 DED
$300 DED IF HIT-N-RUN
Wow. Compare that to insurance here in Australia. NRMA want $620 a year to have the SCOOTER insured for $11,000. This does NOT include human damage, that is another insurance called a green slip which is around $400 a year.

Swann insures me 3rd party only for $160
compulsory 3rd party (green slip) and rego together cost $90
comprehensive would cost me $550 for $12'000 with 3 years riding experience
shop around with insurance :)

Daily Ride:
2007 Vectrix, modified with 42 x Thundersky 60Ah in July 2010. Done 194'000km
No Vectrix here, but the same class of light motorcycle, though considerably cheaper.
3rd party liability up to 100 mio. Euro, but maximum 10 Mio. per person cost me 78.30 Euro last year at 100% premium rate, this year at only 65% premium rate it has gone down to 50 Euros :-)
I also have a partial damage and theft waiver which costs me another 25.37 Euros, but I would have to carry 150 Euro of damage myself in case I should need this. I initially thought that some folks would possibly like to get their hands on such an electric ride in an illegal manner, i.e. theft, but given the current sate of my bike with several assorted scratches on the body I think I will get rid of that insurance for 2013...
My rides:
2017 Zero S ZF6.5 11kW, erider Thunder 5kW

Wow, that sounds like a pretty sweey deal actually. I might have to call Progressive.
Thanks for the info.

I pay $130/yr to "Drive Insurance", a subsidiary of Progressive. My policy includes:
I also have a Honda Shadow 750 with the same coverage, so I pay $260/yr total for my bikes. Not bad compared to the cars!
Definitely!
Cost of insurance was a huge, huge deciding point between an electric motorcycle and an electric car.
