Any ideas? I need a little help from someone who knows what they are talking about because i sure as hell dont..
Im trying to get a 48v 20ah pack from these batteries if thats even possible.
Anyone around who is bored enough to help me out really quick?
While it's possible to wire 4 of them in series and the 5th in parallel with one of the series batteries, it isn't a good idea - it wouldn't stay balanced. You really need 8 of these batteries to get what you want: two series-wired packs of 4 each, wired to each other in parallel. Your best bet with what you have is, depending on what you have for a motor and controller, either 4 of them wired in series and the 5th as a spare sitting at home for a 48v 10AH system, or a 60 volt, 10 AH system using all 5 wired in series.
Hi,
Thanks for the informative response!
So youre saying it might work? how dangerous would it be?
If i hooked one parallel up to the 4 in a series, would there be any way i could balance it?
check this diagram out and tell me what ya think guys.
:)
Hi, Thanks.
hook the batteries like that and you will be removing molten lead from the floor (probably preceded by an explosion due to the significant quantity of both hydrogen and heat created)
you can't put a 12v battery in parrallel with a 48v string..
to get 48v 20Ah, you will need 8 batteries (2 in parrallel x 4 in series)
what is it going in?
if you only have 5 batteries, you are better off running 60V 10Ah
your only other option is 48V 10AH (dont use one of the batteries)

To add on to what antiscab said ...
You have a 48v string, and a 12v battery. Connect them in parallel and the 48v string has a higher energy than the 12v battery and the 48v string will dump all its energy into the 12v battery. A 12v battery being swamped with 48v of energy will overcharge and the results simply will not be pretty. I think it might be more like an explosion rather than a simple melt-down. Tell you what, try connecting your batteries as you drew the picture and tell us what happened. Better yet, take a video on youtube and earn megabucks when it goes viral.

Haha, okay, thanks. GOt it. I know nothing about electronics and im just gonna make a 48v 10ah series... *sigh...
Thanks for the information guys, glad i could provide you with a good laugh.
Have a good one.
Hi, Thanks.
