mc1017 BUSVLT?

Since I installed the voltage display feature I can "feel" the pain and stress of the battery during full accelerations. The MC1014b Firmware can allow the battery's voltage to shrink under 103v, quite a low limit. Anybody with MC1017 and a voltmeter can tell me the safe limit of that newer firmware? many thanks in advance.

The minimum allowed voltage is 112V when the charge is good and it changes to 114V when charge starts getting low. The icon comes on between 116V and 117V if the power delivery is low.

I'm sincerely impressed again by your deep knowledge of that scooter, thank you for sharing your comments with us , they're really helpful!
If you were driving a Vectrix with mc1014b and the Voltage display feature, what would you "manually" set as BUSVLT (lowest safe voltage)? The Laird suggested 120v. I would suggest 115v-116v. And you?

I did write a reply fairly soon and lengthy after reading your question but when i hit send/save it didnt and i couldnt be arsed to re-write it.

However i work on lairds basis of not pushing the bike hard when its below 120v

I ride generally as gently as possible around the 30mph / 50kmh range most of the time anyhow.

Generally i've found its the stop start which uses the most power (acceleration) continous speed (low amperage drain) seems better.

Lastly after reading Xvectrix's post and watching my voltages dance when using the bike. I'm interested how the redlight is determined as the voltages can drop significantly momentarily under acceleration and i'd have thought it would have triggered the red light but doesn't.

Anyhow Just my unqualified 2c worth.

Its somewhat of a catch 22 because if you dont know the voltage on the weakest cell it could be that 125V is too low of a minimum. Not knowing this, the higher the voltage the better, but the performance will suffer. On a known healthy pack, 115-120V should be sufficient. Again tho, its a trade off between performance and pack safety.

I wrote up a lengthy description of the cutback routine a while back, but it may have been lost in the recent crash. In a nutshell, the MC monitors average power consumption. When the voltage falls below approximately 117V and the power is high (dont remember the exact number but I think around 55amps, or 6500W) the MC is allowed to deliver full power. If the current available below 117V is less than 55A for around 8 or 9 seconds the MC starts to cut back on the current and the performance of the bike is limited. This way, as one cell (the weakest) can no longer supply current, the current is limited.
So thats why you can see the voltage dip but not trigger the icon.
