Vectrix gauges and lighting flickering up & down

Cell Propelled's picture

My new Vectrix has an odd thing happening. When I'm driving at night. Well, I can't see the problem in the daylight, but what is happening is all the electronics/dash read-outs, surge up and down every 2 to 3 seconds, going from bright to dim, back and forth. No sounds, no relay clicks, I'm wondering if this is something that I've read that Vectrix had put a saltwater damage control on it to spike and clear the biuld-up on any device points and connections. Could this be it, or do you think it could be trouble.

It is just the ambient light sensor and it's delayed response to street lights!

Well, it's damn annoying.

Where is the sensor?

A piece of black tape should sort it :)

It's not so easy, because there is a substantial air-gap between the plastic and the sensor in the speedo. Sticky tape will not keep light from bouncing in from the sides, unless you make it so big that it is more annoying than the flickering!

Just picked up a 2007 on Sunday and happy to find this thread to learn it isn't a bug, although would love to disable it. I also wish the contrast was better for the right side gauge or there was a way to adjust it.

Mine does this too but I find the brightness at night a bit much generally. It may just be the contrast as Jesse (our cats name!) mentioned. Has anyone managed a hack or have a clue where to start?
