Hello im new here and dont understand much about electricity but i have the basics. I am looking for a motor that can turn 90 degrees forward and reverse. I need it to make what is in the video below

A geared DC-Motor combined with two end switches or a simple reversing 3-way switch for operation could do that job. But the motor should be waterproof if fixed underneath the rear bumper of a car...

Where can i find this switch you are talking about? I googled "reversing 3 way switch" but nothing came up. I thought about adding limit switches but is more wires to deal with. Isnt there a motor than can do this >>>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaakjGHMZsQ
I looked for linear actuators but are expensive for me.
The reversing part would come about by the way you solder the DC-wires to the terminals. The switch would default to center position which is off. When you flick it to one side and hold it there the DC-Motor would get the polarity to extend your light, when you let go it stops getting that voltage. When you flick it the other way, your DC-motor would get reverse polarity. This is achieved by crossing over the end terminals of the switch.
It should be a switch with 6 contacts, two in the center to which battery + and - are connected, and two at each end. To one of those sides the leads to the DC motor are attached. At the same time those contacts are connected to the two at the other end crossed over.
I hope this makes sense to you. A pic would say more than a thousand words...

Yes i understand. So what motor do you recommend for my set up? Also how do i wire the limit switches?
Sorry, can't give you any motor recommendations. What we use at work are Johnson Motors, but sutiable for underhood applications. you do not need such high temp. capable motors under the rear bumper. How end switches could be wired without having to involve electronics is also slightly above my head.
I would have thought wiring them in series with the DC-motor wires and having them of the type that makes contact as default and interrupts in case it is operated would be the solution, but in that case it would no longer be possible to return the motor to the other side anymore. Maybe a diode bridging the end switches for opposite polarity could make it work that way?
