I am looking for a block or loose batteries, 8-10, on the Aussie east coast.
I know antiscab has some available but nearer to Brisbane would reduce transport footprint.
I have bridged out one dead cell and plugged it all in today but the charger turned itself off (tr 152) about 7 bars up. This is a lot better than before but maybe a sign to replace most bulged cells. I will try to get more charge into the batteries, ride to red light and recharge to see if charger resets to new (101 cells) set up.

Hi Bernd,
when shunting out cells, it is best to keep an eye on battery voltage
Try to avoid letting the voltage go above 1.45v x number of remaining cells
The bike doesn't know when some cells have been removed, so will use the same voltage limits as before
re replacement cells:

I would not put a bulged battery into the pack. I have tested 10s of these over the past year and have never found a bulged one that held a full charge.
I have NiMh cells for sale from converted Vectrix bikes. I have tested them and guarantee 80% of new capacity and low leakage. They will hold a charge longer than 2 weeks. I will sell a front block of 8 cells for $110 or rear block of 9 cells for $120 plus freight. I am in Melbourne.
When are you going to tell us the details of your conversion? Curious Melbourne minds want to know!
Hi Aircon, I posted information on the 90Ah Li-Ion conversion I did under the link "Li battery vs. NiMH battery".
This was in March. I have been constructing another battery set to convert another bike. It should be ready soon.
I was hoping for more information. this could be a complete transformation to the bike. what's the availability? The cost? Can you do other repairs as things break down. The reason I ask is becuase I'm nervous about piling more money into a bike that might die tomorrow with no one around to fix it. Any input on those issues?
I have a 135v 90Ah Li-ion battery set for Vectrix VX-1. The price is $3200. This is a drop in replacement for the Ni-Mh though you have to use the temperature boards and sensors from the Ni-Mh pack. I would recommend you fit a voltmeter to the bike. These batteries are safe to charge to 151 volts and the Vectrix low battery warning will come when near discharged. I guarantee the batteries for 12 months and faulty cell replacement is easy. I don't service Vectrix bikes but will do the conversion if you prefer me to do it. Charles Mann of Vectrix Australia has supplied me with spare parts for Vectrix and does servicing. His email is charles [at] vectrix.com.au. He is based near Geelong and comes to Melbourne.
My Bike with this conversion will on dislay at Melbourne Electric Vehicle Branch of ATA on the 16th May 6.30pm. This is at Swinburne University Hawthorn Campus. I will bring along a sample cell and would be happy to talk to you about the conversion.

What kind of range are you getting with the 90Ah battery? I assume well over 100 miles? Do you use the stock charger?
The longest trip I have done is from Croydon to Traralgon, Victoria, Australia which was 210 km. This was on major roads and highway at 80 to 90km/hr. This is the only time I have run the battery to its minimum voltage of 2.8 volts per cell. Theoretical range is 300km at 60km/hr.
I am using the stock charger.
