i am kinda new to this, but would like to know why so many people are going through so much trouble to add extra batteries? is this for power, speed, etc.? my daughter has a 750 Schwinn, nad has had no problem at all with batteries. thanks, JIM

I have a Stealth 1000 bought in Sept '07 that has been a jewel. I am a fulltime RVer with somewhat limited mobility and it has been great for getting around in campgrounds, at rallies, and "walking" the dog. Now my balance is getting worse and I need to sell it and get something with more stability.
About a year ago I decided that I didn't want to hook up the charger outside the motorhome in the rain, so I brought the charger and battery pack inside and tried to fit the two together to charge. Well, you know what happened! I nearly burned off a finger and roasted one of the prongs on the plug. I took it to Alien Scooters in Austin, TX, and they "repaired" the plug with a bit of solder and replaced the connection on the battery.
That was fine until now, but now I can't get a current through the wiring to charge the batteries, which are still good. I was told by a friend who looked at the connections that I would need to replace both the plug and the little outlet on the scooter, and also the connector on the battery pack. I don't have time to order these parts and get them installed before I leave, so if any of you are near Livingston, TX, where I am until the end of this week, or in the following places where I will be going in the next few weeks, and would like to look at or make an offer on it, let me know and we can set up a time and place. Future locations: Sherman, TX; Norman, OK; Kansas City, MO. I do have it advertised here, and if I do happen to sell it I will post again to let you know.
I bought this scooter off of craigslist. Can someone tell me how to check what year this is ? I don't know what year to put on when I'm ordering parts. Thank you!
HELP! My rear wheel is flat, and I need to replace it, All I really need to replace I think is the inner tube. I know where to buy, but I need some instruction as to how and if I could go about getting the rear wheel out and replaced. PLZPLZPLZ Help!

Well for me with the stealth 1000, I've had some problems with batteries, but they were late onset. But $144 and a new sottering tool later, I had a running scooter again.
I don't have a Schwinn.. but i've had such a hard time with tis forum, I thought to try and find a recent post, to get a response.. ..I wish this forum wasn't so fragmented, so that I could just post in a "general" forum.. I have a chinese electric scooter/bike , but damned if I can find an appropriate forum to place my query in..
Mine suffered damage to the plastic fairing, when it got out of control because the speed control "stuck.. basically it ran into a concrete pillar"..
If you (or anyone else) knows the correct sub-forum to place this, I'd be grateful!

Has anyone one done the shunt mod to the schwinn stealth? I have a 2007 I think... I was wondering what to expect if I did do this mod also. I think it makes the power come on a lot faster correct? Is there any big cons to this?
I've got a recently acquired 2007 as well. It needed batteries and a seat post. Now that I have ridden it 4 or 5 times it started making this noise in the rear, then locked up. Freaking pinion gear cut right into the motor shaft is fubar, gears are too. So it's 250 for a new motor and gears? I may cut my losses instead. possibly I'll try to do something with this motor shaft, convert it to chain drive. Not likely to be possible tho.
Has anyone converted one of these back to a chain drive setup? I might try it.
If anyone has an extra rear axle for the schwinn stealth 1000, I would love to purchase one. I dont want to buy the whole rear assembly. Mine snapped in half.
I am looking for a new rear axle for my Stealth 1000. Anyone who may have one please PM me. Also has anyone tried the 48volt LiFePo battery in the stealth?
I need to use a razor scooter ecosmart (the sit down model with seat and basket) outside the play zone and in the red zone for a few miles only on path to my commute. My end destination is back in the allowed play zone but how do i "block" the gps so it doesn't stop me when i get in the red zone.?
is it as simple as covering with a large neodymium magnet or something where the GPS unit is approx. located on the deck? tin foil on deck...lol
ironically first time i did this it didn't pick up at all, i was off the app while riding and was using normal google maps for navigation and had the razor app closed....thinking it uses the phone app to confirm I'm in red...but it seems my first ride was a fluke?? i was able to ride in the red zone no problem, but the 2nd time i tried (different scooter) it stopped me.
I have Stealth 1000 with dd gearbox i chipped two teeth on the center idler
gear inside. All else is good - motor and shaft gear and the other gear
bearing and axle excellent. There is no metal inside because i doubled the
amount of grease inside earlier. All i need is the center gear, can anyone help me?
I think broke when rear wheel dropped in a hole and came to an instant stop
with motor under load.
SLA batteries are a poor choice converted to Lipos years ago and have had no
problems.
Batteries, balance chargers, low voltage alarms, xt60 connectors, 12g
silicone wire, etc all from Hobby King
Batteries nominal 14.8v 4s 10,000 mah 3 in series give total of 12 cells
fully charged 4.18v = 50 volts! Used with original throttle
controller and motor. Top speed is still about 18mph enough for me on gravel
roads here but much more torque to go up hill thru tall grass on soft ground.
Compact fan cooled Balance Chargers max 10a have three so charging time is
short. These batteries require much care but the improved performance and
lifetime is worth it to me. Remove batteries from scooter to charge, do not
leave fully charged, never drain below about 3.4 volts, fire hazard, etc.
Lipos cost 3-4 times as much as sla's but with care last 3-4 times longer,
plus all of lipos benefits.
Power supply 12v 30a fan cooled powers all three chargers. ebay from China.
Thanks for the interest hzrich
