More VX1 Dyno runs . One with pack about 2/3 charged the other Busult

Thought you guys would find this interesting

I wanted to run my batteries down before a recharge an so put my vx 1 on the dyno to run it for 20 mins and get the voltages down

Interesting things. Load on the dyno was around 15%

At 2/3rd charge (estimated) the dyno run was perfectly as expected. Road speeds/hp a little lower than my previous bike but i dont think i had any load on that

Then just out of curiosity i thought when the battery was low on charge what it would do and the results were interesting

Resting battery voltage 120v - full power induced busult error (as expected) but the bike still ran to 70kmh.

Max power down to 3.35hp

interesting, but tell us which motor controller version is the bike running.
you are aware that you probably hurt a few cells in the process?

Its the Pre 68mph version (1014 i think was the number) its the version of firmware which is linked to the lairds charging algorithms, allows you to run your bike with or without temp sensors functioning and also has more torque in the mid range (apparently) than the 68mph version.

Ironically i didn't consider the damage to the cells at the time. Too late now to worry about it. Incidentally on the road i'm actually very gentle on my pack which is the antithesis of what i was doing to it on the dyno !

Then the result is a surprise because my bike has the same config and I get a lot more power at 120V. No dyno proof but just my feeling.
It was with the 68mph version that I would have gotten similar results (it cuts off considerably below 117V I seem to remember).
So I think your battery is in a poor condition.

Ha - almost certainly. I bought this bike with 26,500km on it !!!

The fact its still moving, is testament to the previous owners skills at finding dead cells and swapping out for fresh(ish) ones.

or maybe not...
My bike has almost 30.000 KM and I still get 30 KM range at high speeds with a little juice left after my commute.
With the original pack and zero cell replacements!

Kingcharles, is your bike set to force a 30Ah charge or is it on the 'dynamic' capacity-calculating charge setting?
Thanks, best wishes, Drew

I am using The Lairds software for the last few thousand kilometer and before that stock settings from Vectrix.
Range has not changed since switching to The Lairds software but battery temperatures are much lower now.
I can remember that the importer did a force 30 ah command once but that was at least 1,5 years ago. I have not played with the software myself, I only followed the instructions from The Laird.
