Mystery Electric Bike Kit

My father in law has an 36 volt electric bike and today while he was riding it he went over a set of rail road tracks and lost power.
He burned his bridge with the bike shop that installed and he has no idea what brand it is. The only name I can get off the
front hub motor is USAAOTEMA and a bunch of Chinese symbols. It has a very small controller not much bigger than a pack of
smokes and has a thumb throttle with the battery lights on it. Any idea what brand it could be? Golden, Wilderness?????

Re: Mystery Electric Bike Kit

Ok tracked it down and it is a 36 volt brushed wilderness energy kit and the controller is bad. Any recommendations for a new one.
The one that is on there looks cheap. Strange thing is there does not appear to be a fuse in the system and the controller does
not appear to have any burned mosfets or popped caps? I could put on an Curtis but that might be just a little over kill. lol

Nah, Curtis' are for wimps. Put on a Zilla, a WaRP motor and a wheelie bar. Go on - y'know you want to...

Re: Mystery Electric Bike Kit

Couldn't it be just a loose connector or wire somewhere?

Re: Mystery Electric Bike Kit

I was hoping it was a loose wire or connection but it looks like it toasted 3 mosfets. :( Why there is no fuse is puzzling!
I am NOT a electronics enginer but it measures 800 ohms between the collector & emitter which according to my test sheet is bad.
Can anyone recommend a better mosfet than a IRF3205. The CC17C also tested high between the collector and emitter. Does anyone
have any idea what the CC17C is for? Is it for the power supply circuit? It is on the other side of the circuit board.

ROFL!! :)

Wilderness energy makes it easy for you to mix and match parts. Just find a Wilderness distributer and buy a new controller......personally, I would check it out first... the traintracks probably knocked something loose.

Re: Mystery Electric Bike Kit

Wilderness quoted me $95 bones for the their controller, which seems high to me for such a puny little thing.
Can anyone recommend a cheap 36volt 40amp - 80amp brush controller? I don't mind paying 100 bones for a nice
controller. :)

Re: Mystery Electric Bike Kit

I've had good success with 4QD's controller, the UNI-8.
