E+ 1000 with an ERR6 error. Help!

Being with no license because of disability, this bike has saved me for a flawless 1.5 years of no bus, until a recent no start problem (below). I was crushed when I heard that the company was out of business because the bike has run flawless, and I have every tool there is both mechanical and electrical if it is something that was fixable by me. (I found after reading through that someone had Ricks email, so I did email one of prv techs, ric.ruggiero [at] yahoo.com). The problem begins as you turn on the "computer/dash". It displays for about 30 seconds with the message ERR6 and then turns off with the wheel lock up temporarily. Any help or instruction is very appreciated. thanks

feldee,
ERR6 means:
"wrong display for the motor"
according to this EMS document:
http://www.mail-ems.com/E+_Electric_Bike_Display.php
meaning master controller inside display is not recognizing motor electronics.
Make sure you find and read thread titled "E+ master controller reset" in bicycle subforum , last post in this thread discribes procedure which might fix your E+ !!!

micro13car,
I started with the link you sent, Wow- a wealth of info that comes in handy!! I'm not sure how you found it, but thanks for the info!! Now the reset subforum- if you are leading to the BVH comments... I just finished giving it all a try and no luck. There has to be a way leading towards a reset that will effect that err6/motor, and haven't found that particular solution yet. Again however, I printed out every page of the link you sent me in case that site ever disappears. Thanks again.

Just for note- I ended up sending the controller to ric and that seemed to be where the problem was (controller). It was nothing I could fix by plugging variations, and then re-plugging, instead however I was informed that the cause may have been a power surge into the controller. So the next storm I will have to remember to unplug everything from charge and power, or buy a better surge protector.
