Vectrix files for Chapter 7 bankruptcy?

Yeah, I know it's April Fool's Day...but I think this article in the Boston Business Journal is serious:

New Bedford electric scooter company Vectrix files for bankruptcy

New Bedford-based electric scooter company Vectrix has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which usually involves liquidation.

In documents filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, the company listed its assets as being between $1 million and $10 million and its estimated liabilities as between $10 million to $50 million.

Vectrix had filed for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 in 2009 and negotiated an agreement t o sell most of its assets at that time.

The company has its headquarters in New Bedford, a sales office in California and a manufacturing facility in Poland.

Vectrix was founded in 1996 "with one objective—to create core technology that would provide clean, efficient, reliable and affordable transportation," the company's Facebook page states.

The attorney representing the firm in the bankruptcy is Ryan Kelley of Pierce Atwood LLP in Portland, Maine. Kelley would not comment further on the filing.

Can anyone confirm?

Good news: I've just talked with the Spanish Dealer.
They've assured me that Vectrix Europe (and taiwan division) is fully operational. They're not affected by Vectrix USA's bankruptcy.

What exactly does "Vectrix Europe is still fully operational" mean? None of their web sites work...

And I thought I was upset about Vectrix filing for Chapter 7...

64-year-old Andrew Ng Sung-on is said to have been despondent over company set-backs. The company was unsuccessful in reviving Vectrix, a US-based electric motor scooter company it had taken over.

Published: 22-Apr-2014

A senior executive of international battery maker GP jumped to his death from the roof of his office building in Kwai Chung yesterday.

Andrew Ng Sung-on, 64, the vice-chairman and executive director of Gold Peak Industries (Holdings), who is also chairman and chief executive of GP Batteries International, was found lying unconscious on the ground outside the eight-story Gold Peak Building on Castle Peak Road in Kwai Chung.
