Firmware update question

Hi,

I am trying to update my firmware because the BMS page looks like this:

image.jpg

I use the 'browse' button to select the BMS R54 on my computer and it displays as the selected file. I then press the 'program' button and get this error where the program seems to be looking for the file that is being replaced (on which ever computer it was originally in). Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Firmware update question

Are you using JBurroughs (sp?) computer? If no, then somehow it is searching in the wrong location. If yes, could the path be too long? In either case, put the file in C:\temp or some other folder with a short path and see if it finds it then.

Re: Firmware update question

The 3vx software module may not be fully operational. Try with li+ module.

Also try with latest scooterdiag: Scooterdiag 64b V.1.0.2.1 january 2013 is uploaded, you can download it from our usual website.

*UPDATE*: I've just uploaded extra XML files to access extra features via scooterdiag. Many thanks to the entire vectrix Community who is sharing all this important stuff.

We,re looking for a LI Service manual, if anybody can help us, please send me PM.

Re: Firmware update question

I installed the 64 bit ver 1.0.2.1 and set type to VXLi3. The BMS page was still not reading individual cell voltages. I tried installing GPLiBMS R54 but got the same error. As suggested, I changed vehicle type to VXLi1. The cell voltages were still not reading, so I tried to install the GPLiBMS R54 file. It tried but did not get the proper response.

It silences controller and charger successfully then

'attempting to instruct BMS application to reboot into the boot loader...'
'Maybe already in boot mode. BMS->boot mode transition not seen...'
'Unable to receive a dm_15 response for set pointer address: 0x700 Board number 0'

Any ideas?

Thanks

Cliff

Re: Firmware update question

Try to find somebody with a Vx1 Li42, and swap the BMS connectors. No need to pull out the batteries or disconnect the batteries, just the CANbus BMS plugs. Check your BMS battery with the canbus of the other vectrix system.

In this pictures, we're checking that a botbat message is reporduced in the other scooter: The problem is located inside the battery.

Re: Firmware update question

If I were you, I'd forget about vectrix lithium. Keep that NIMH battery operational while you look for a 9 kwh leaf battery...

Re: Firmware update question

Bluestreak,

Thank you for your offer. I am leaning towards doing the Leaf conversion also but not decided. I am in Davie about 4 hours drive away but will be in Tampa at the end of the month. Maybe I can combine the best cells from the two packs and still have a useable vehicle. Do you need to move the cells sooner?

What is the "usual website"? What extra XML do you mean?

Re: Firmware update question

Yes, what are these sites? Why so much secrecy on the location of the files? Vectrix is dead and buried. I don't think anyone is going to come looking for software being stolen?

If we're going to keep these things road worthy, we have to start sharing ALL of the files (good, bad and indifferent)

Re: Firmware update question

Someone would need to be the arbiter of what software or firmware goes with what. I know that David at Vectrix support has taken up the mantle and can "Sell" you whatever firmware you need. For the ESD charger that I have I got a LOT of responses and on another thread (http://visforvoltage.org/forum/14071-68-mph-firmware) I posted a link to my dropbox where I had copies of the firmware. I guess I might get a cease and desist but you are right, we are on our own. The only reason people are being secret is there is no way to post a file other than pictures to this site, so they use PMs to send files of firmware between each other.

We are moving into an era where groups create their own firmware but we are not entirely there yet. These will be free to all like the Laird has been doing. But for now, if you need a specific file and someone else has it, wait for a response or contact someone who does this for a living.

Re: Firmware update question

Understood. However, with the many different threads, there appears to be numerous variations out there. For example, there is a 2008 version of the ScooterDiags (which I have), a 2013 version (which is understandably for the Li variant, but appears to have other features). R references a XML file to add features to this.

I was led to believe I could reset my SOC gauge using Scooter Diags, however, the version I have does not appear to have this feature.

Not to in anyway denigrate what the Laird has done, but again I've seen references to versions for Li, versions customized for LEAF batteries, etc. Even just having someone (me?) develop a spreadsheet showing what's out there, and a place to download would be great. I understand some stuff is proprietary (such as Dugas Engineerings stuff) and respect that. I would also ask, what / who took over the intellectual property of Vectrix after the shutdown?

Even stuff that is not free, I think a simple spreadsheet of what's out there, who to get it from and how to purchase would be useful.

My fear is that as we move further and further away from Vectrix's shutdown, that some of this tribal knowledge will be lost, or buried in threads not easily referenced.

Just my $.02, do not mean to offend anyone!

Re: Firmware update question

I Agree with boeingpilot.
Anyone can access the share page, just send me email or PM, look at all firmwares uploaded, and publish here the list of firm, receive feedback, and finally upload to that share page (or the lairds) a compiliation of firms matching the list order.
